I mentioned earlier in the thread that I moved in June and they screwed up the move pretty bad. They gave me $270 in credits to keep me with DTV (I wouldn't have left regardless), so I thought I'd have a hard time getting anything this time since I locked myself into a 2 year contract in taking those credits. Just for kicks, I called anyway just to see if I could get anything.

I told them that I was thinking about getting the ticket but it goes up so much each year that it's out of my price range (though they could charge double and I'd still get it). They knocked $20 a month off ($120 total) the price of it for me.

To make a long story short, and if you are paying full price for the Sunday Ticket, you're just throwing away $.

I called on Sunday and received the ticket for free and a $45 per month credit for the next 6 months ($600 value). A big thanks to Bixler and all the others whom added to this thread. It took 15 minutes and was very easy. Thanks again guys!

I just told them I saw my friend "down the street" just signed up for direct and he got free Sunday ticket. I told him that I had been a loyal customer and was thinking about quitting and going to dish since they had red zone channel and that was all I needed. Perhaps that will help u. I probably could have held out for more but I am happy with what I got

Call 1-800-824-9081 and say 'cancel service' at the voice prompts. When the CSR comes on ask them when your contract is up. If you don't have one or they ask why are you asking tell them the main reason you are with Direct TV is NFL Sunday Ticket but with the lockout this year and the bad economy $323 for the early bird special is too expensive. Ask them if there are any NFL Sunday Ticket promotions for existing customers, since all new customers are getting it for free. You could switch to Dish Network or your local cable provider and pay the same price, including free HD service. You could also get the RedZone channel from either of those providers instead of paying $323 for the whole NFL Sunday Ticket. Ask the rep if there are any deals you qualify for as an existing customer. Mention your wife is bugging you to cut the bills but you love football and she loves her movie channels.

Thanks Bixler. Sounds well rehearsed and my wife is going to love having everyone over Sundays. Later.

I signed up during the promotion, I got Sunday ticket free, and a $30 rebate every month for a year. I'm paying $40 a month, and I've got all of the movie channels too. Then this flyer came in the mail, it says if you sign up and use my account number as a reference, we will both get $100 reward. Don't know if it's kosher to give out the account number on this forum though. The admins are pretty hard on us. Let me know...

I though it was worth reporting, here on the NJ coast we had the television on all morning and only lost television reception for less than 2 minutes during the heaviest rainfall from Hurricane Irene.

Lost it for a minute or two early this morning when a heavy band came through south central PA. Other than that, solid as a rock

unbelievable.... I called a week ago before I saw this thread and asked for it free. She said there was no way I could get it for free and the best she could do was $10 off the NFL sunday ticket price per month. She was giving me attitude so I got upset and asked for the retention dept... she said DirecTV didn't even have a retention dept!!!! Really???

Called just now using bixlers script and got through to the RETENTION dept and she offered it to me for free within 30 seconds.

Crazy how these companies work.... thanks bixler.

Numerous reports on dbstalk.com of people getting 2012 Sunday Ticket Max for free, $299 value, for extending their contract 1 year. Also many people getting Sunday Ticket Max for $100. New option this year is Max which allows you to watch Red Zone, Short Cuts, and via mobile device. Regular price for the simple version of Sunday Ticket is $199.

Call in and get those deals!

I talked to direct tv couple days ago, $199 price does not include red zone. Think there was something else. I called to cancel espn college game plan ticket.

    DISH Network NFL network

I have the premier plan with all the Fox Sports including the baseball package. I think I had two games blacked-out this year. I usually get them on 692/693/696 when they're not on the 700's. Directv is the best out there by far. They also work with you if you call them and complain a little telling them they only give stuff to new customers what about the loyal customers. I usually get $10 sometimes even $20 a month off for 6 months.

If you need a tech to come down and you don't have the protection plan instead of paying $49 they give it to you right then for 5.99 a month no contact the guy comes takes care of everything wait the month just in case you need him again then cancel so it $6 instead of $49.
They see it on the computer but if your a long time customer they don't say anything. They work well with you just don't argue ask to speak to a supervisor and if that don't work call back tomorrow and then the next day and you'll get what you want. last year we all got the NFL package for free this year it's $199 which is reasonable for 17 weeks of football.

Curious question...i got the nfl sunday ticket last year after calling and complaining like everyone said to. My question is, will they automatically charge me again for the package this year or do i need to call them and make sure that they dont? I dont feel like paying the $199 bucks for it this year and really dont see anyway to complain and get that lowered. Let me know!! thanks!

No I called to cancel espn football game plan and they told me to watch the bill. I told them I would call in August to make sure I did not get charged. I would suggest you do the same.

Probably June or July. If they are going to charge you will see it on your bill as $0 a couple months before they actually start. Have you seen that? You can cancel up until the first week so even if they do charge you, you can cancel and get your money credited.

so basically what i am getting out of this conversation is that you can get NFL Ticket for free if you simply call and tell them that you don't want to pay for it? Thats awful biz on their part but what do i know? just seems foolish but love the fact you can get away with it...

You have to get sent to the retention specialist because they think you are going to leave DTV. Then they have deals they can give you if you agree to a new agreement. You can do this every year or so but there is a limit how many credits you can get per year. But yes needless to say its something you should do if you can get away with it and plan to stay with DTV anyway.
