I should have known better than to Target against Hamels, who has had so many consecutive bad starts ---
Just the way baseball is.
It looks like Scherzer's cutter is working a little better now too.
Hey, I admire your work but let add something to the above.
Hamels had one bad outing last time out versus Houston in Minute-Maid. The previous outing vs PHL wasn't quality but was removed after 4 with high pitch count. He left a N/D giving up 3 earned. He faced a St.Louis team yesterday with 3 starters resting.
Scherzer might have his cutter back, but his out pitches yesterday were the fastball and changeup. He only threw 12 cutters the whole game.

Thanks for the reply.
The important thing for Scherzer is that he needs his cutter as a show pitch that he can locate, or else people just sit fastball.
Yes, if he had his Change-Up at peak, then maybe he still hasn't fixed the cutter very well...
The matchup for Hamels against the Cardinals is very tough. But it had been a while since Hamels had all the pitches in his arsenal working. When he does, he's more successful again St righties, at least in terms of K/BB historically.

And I should be paying more attention to the idea that Hamels would find those pitches at some point. And a day game with less preparation.. probably the time he would figure it out
I am so personally relieved for myself AND for all of you, that I've been able to so quickly storm back from two Sundays ago when I lost nearly 10 units .

Picking on struggling pitchers after they have been really bad.. in a day game on getaway Sunday.... Playing with fire.
Disappointing

Peak behind the curtains here.
Many Phillies struggle significantly with upper 90s fastballs. (remember the Brandon Woodruff game?)
Rhys Hoskins has swung at 46 4-Seamers >= 95 mph this year
He has fouled off, or swung and missed on 36 of them (78%)
For Harper those numbers are 61 (swings and misses + fouls ) out of 70 swings (87%)
Herrera 24 of 28 (85.7%)
Kingery 15 of 19 (79%)
