never going to happen, degrom will win a world series for the yankees if that happened , mets cant afford that right now...
id love to have him though , and they would have to give up a lot for him ,which is always part of the equation.

stjoe you going to medowlands to check out the sportsbook ? i remember your in cherry hill i think, you might be closer to monmouth ,it would
take me about half hour to get to the track

youre right. im a mets guy - but i also root for yanks (never understood why so many mets fans think its best to be bitter about yanks). i forgot that as much as i'd enjoy watching jake on a winning team, wilpons/mets wouldnt ha.

im up north of that. i had a busy weekend but two of my friends did check it out. feedback i got was baseball lines were real bad (20c, up to 40c for the big favs) and golf odds to win tournament were very good. i have a friend that kills it on daily matchups with golf so hes always checking them. between the odds for the major sports theyll get action anyway, and the tax issue (would be nice to have this problem), im not sure itll be more than a novelty to me. keeping an open mind thought. what do you think/did you see?

Edit - good memory jets! im impressed.

Meadowlands is lost already in new era of sports betting
    July 17, 2018 3:01 AM
    by Bill Krackomberger

In New Jersey, the Meadowlands became the second race track to begin taking legal sports wagers this past weekend. I have been betting sports for close to 40 years; and I have never witnessed anything like what is now going on there. They are charging the most outrageous vigorish known to mankind.

Approximately 98% of the shops that are in Vegas or abroad charge a vig of -105 on both sides of the baseball game. For example, the NYY -130 and the comeback on the underdog is +120. The other 2% charge -110 both ways and see much smaller volume.

The Meadowlands is charging -125 with a +100 return on the underdog. Totals are even worse, Over 8 -140 with a comeback of +105. This is an outrage, and anyone with half a brain should avoid this place like the plague.

Do they really think the customer base is that green and they don’t know any better? Did they think they were opening a book in the middle of America? This is on New York’s doorstep! These people have been betting for decades with their local guys. Even the people that have not, do read the New York newspapers, where sportsbook lines are posted every single day, with Vegas Odds.

One thing for sure, the street bookmakers in North Jersey and New York have no worries with the Meadowlands cutting into their profits. In fact, it may actually increase their business after the public gets a taste of this and realizes they can go to their local bar and find a guy who is booking at a 75% discounted rate rather than this ripoff joint.

The ticket writers should be wearing ski masks like their bosses, this way everyone can just save some time. I have posted on Twitter about this (along with many others) and the stories have gone viral. Hopefully, the public catches on to these practices and does not patronize this establishment until the management returns to planet Earth.

The June numbers are out in New Jersey – $16.4 million was wagered. $1 million of that was on futures. So of the $15.4 million wagered, the casinos/state won just under $3.5 million in 16 days. That is a hold percentage of over 22%. In relation, Nevada’s hold for 2017 was 5.1%.

These high percentages will not last in New Jersey, but they will be much more than they are in Nevada. Shouldn’t that be enough of an incentive for these European companies to want to get involved in New Jersey with Vegas-like prices?

Further, the racetracks in New Jersey are making you remove your hats and sunglasses when at the counter to make your wagers. I can’t get a straight answer as to why this is. However, I think eventually they will use facial recognition software to weed out advantaged gamblers like myself.

It could be they are afraid of theft, but then why do they only do it on the sports side and not the horse race windows? Whatever the case, this is not being done anywhere else in the world that I know of, and it just does not feel right.

All of this makes me appreciate a little more of the life I have here in Las Vegas. The choices of sportsbooks I have, the ease of the apps you can bet on from the comfort of your home (or hotel room). I do not think any gaming jurisdiction will ever have as many options as we do in Vegas.

I write about this with such passion not only because I am a sports bettor’s advocate. I just don’t want things like this to be the start of a trend across the country when sports betting becomes legal in other jurisdictions.

    I think 98% of bettors
A think the Yankees are gonna win they dont care what the line is
B dont have a clue what the difference is between -130 and -140
C dont think it makes a difference from -130 to -140

its novelty still, so people are doing it just because they could not before, who knows how it will play out

How many Xs have you seen a trailing MLB manager using stall tactics when his team is losing in an unofficial game when it starts raining? Once a game starts, it's in the umpires hands. They can wait out a delay up to 3 hours. In some cases suspend the game until the teams meet again. Since Selig, now Manfred umps are "urged" to complete games unless a blowout. So all you Earl Weaver wannabees can forego the Dean Smith routine.

Hey jets - definitely do. I’ve spent some time at biggies it’s a great place. We usually watch opening weekend of cfb at Miller’s ale house on route 4. this year a few of us are heading to Jerry’s world for lsu/miami so we won’t be there. We should grab a drink sometime, maybe the meadowlands if it’s worth it.

The "Little Japanese General" aka Dave Roberts manager of the LA Dodgers pulled another well thought out decision in Philly last night. Top of 16th he sends Rich Hill running out to the bullpen to warm up presumably to pitch the bottom of the inning. Lo and behold he decides to use a position player Ki-ke Hernandez to pitch. You know or can figure out the conclusion. Walk off 3run homer by a walking dead Plouffe.

The sneaky 'PC' police are out there and waiting for their time to piss on parades with nasty archived tweets.
White boys Newcomb and Hader tweeted some insensitive trash as teenagers. The PC Police put the hate tweets on the back burner until the questionable time to release. For example today Newcomb comes within one out of a no-no and they release it. During the all-star game they pissed on Hader. Look, most teenagers are insecure and irrational. Many times law-breaking teens have their cases sealed as youthful offender status. Just immature. Don't hold the evidence over their heads.......call them out immediately.
Since we have an unorthodox White House, why not institute a six months or one year mandatory military stint for all 18-26 year olds. We all need diversity. The hate/fear of ppl looking different than yourself fades. Besides you're all on the same team.

Very nicely said. I don't know what these people gain by bringing up things from years passed that are better left alone unless there's a good reason and I see no reason at this point. We all have done things in our early years that now as we get older wish we could take back. Leave the skeletons where they belong.

Well the few who posted and thanked are very funny and unique, you dont think they do this shit for free do you? They do it for fame, money, and sometimes bribery. The giving out of celeb gossip is a big big business and there are tons of dollars to be collected. The guy posted the tweets and they were reported accurately its called news. How many out of 10 you think that were not family or friends of his would not sell this information if they had it. Also dont you think once Hader's shit came out some smart guy did not sit down and design a scraper to beat the crap out of social media using keywords ni&*^ and many other words to see if he gets anything, its smart business, maybe not the highest moral business but it is business and a guy saying racist and homophobiac shit in a public forum who is a high profile person is A stupid and B deserves every ounce of criticism about it that comes his way.

let kids be kids ok SMH WTF DAF

These hate tweets were posted by immature adolescents playing some kinda role to the choir. This is why they are considered children until they reach the age of majority(18-21).

its still news no matter what age they are and has huge value on the gossip market

so are you saying that if your 15 year old son was online saying this crap, you are OK with it because "they are just kids"

You're missing the point. This crap that Newcomb and Hader posted were children acting childish. Would you charge adolescents committing stupid things as adults? Ppl change becoming adults and enter the outside world.

I don't think anyone disagrees with the idea that what they said was racist, abhorrent, and stupid and certainly shouldn't be tolerated. The 2 things I don't like about it are: 1) they were children, acting childlishly, for whatever reason. And where do you draw the line regarding age as far as publishing such info. Anytime, when they are over 10 years old, when they become teenagers or just over the age of 16. I don't know what the answer is, but I do know that not all of these hi profile, "newsable" athlete-celebrity type people do not always have the type of parental guidance that might prevent these thing from being said in the first place. And although I would never condone such commentary, I can understand the "it's kids doing kid shit" perspective. and 2) it seems like the typical news manipulation that we are all subject to in today's world. They obviously had this information about these comments before and just held off on the revelation of them until there would be maximum exposure. If they were truly newsworthy stories, in and of themselves, why not reveal that info when it was first discovered, not wait until the spotlight is the brightest. I guess I just am getting sick and tired of feeling manipulated by by the media when they are just trying to satisfy their own agenda. Sources like ESPN and the major networks have way too much influence on determining public opinion on everything from sports, to politics, to economic perspective in today's society.

its all cleanup now , everyone agreed that "kids be kids" and now that I spoke up, this is maybe not OK. if my 15 year old son did this I would be appalled shocked and in jail for child abuse. the world is different and racism is a dangerous thing, you people in gated retirement communities only see the bad stuff on TV but in the real world these racist splashes can have deep backlash on innocent kids. HAte is hate and wrong is wrong, these comments should not be minimized and I hope every 12 year old kid who dreams of being a star reads this and learns that this is garbage and no old group of people who blame society on the press not the people making the headlines can change that. garbage is garbage.

Sorry, but playing the "young and immature" card doesn't work for me. We've all done and said things as teenagers we probably regret, but we all haven't said anything racist and homophobic. And LMAO at a 17 year old being "a child acting childish", I can forgive a 10 year old for saying something stupid, but don't tell me a 17 year old doesn't know right from wrong. You don't post racist and homophobic slurs on social media and call it a mistake, there's a reason why that crap was posted in the first place, if Hader, Newcomb, and Turner never thought the way they did, they never would have tweeted the slurs to begin with. There are plenty of things a 17 year old could do that I would put in the category of being young and dumb, sending racist and homophobic tweets across social media for the world to see isn't one of them.

Yes, but back then there was no permanent record of it. Today, everything on social media is "etched in stone". There's no acid bleach.

I'm not sure this is true. I don't think many journalists are scouring the social media of random high schoolers, so its unlikely for the tweets to be publicized at the time. Once they become high profile or newsworthy, more people start looking into them and that's when stuff like this gets out.

There are a lot of random people out there posting awful stuff that isn't national news. As someone's profile rises, they're bound to get more attention and scrutiny.

Dodger management continues to be lacking in pitcher handling. Roberts and his convicted cheater pitching coach Rick Honeycutt must use a ouija board. Quick hooks too often while getting into trouble running outta pitchers/position players. Tonight's loss was a beauty. A walk-off balk by a 27yearold sophomore Floro.

Good article KCB and totally factual. I can tell you stories upon stories of clashes with the corporate books. Here's a mild one......One time hadda a runner working a Station's Casino sportsbook. After a few weeks of biz, he was told he could enter the sportsbook only ONCE A DAY. They have a sportbook VP that has a deep hatred for anyone with clue.

Urban Meyer...What a piece of work! Delivers an apology speech after the slap on the wrist suspension. No remorse(atleast fake it). He then gets blasted and delivers a follow-up with a medication excuse. LMAO!
While this guy was coaching UF in Gainesville, he had over 30 active players arrested for various crimes under his watch. Down state rival Miami Hurricanes ex-coach Randy Shannon had only 1 player arrested during his tenure, greatly improved student-athlete academics. Oh he got fired. Winning trumps morals.
