Old Timer, I live in LV and took your suggestion of Mastrionis. It was excellent. My wife and I both had excellent meals. The decor was much nicer than I expected. Your suggestions are always welcome. Thanks!!! John

I'm really happy you and your wife had a pleasant experience and a great meal. It's pretty much family run with the daughter sometimes at the front his son is a waiter and the wife is usually in the front or with the wines. If I went alone on occasion I would sit at the counter and watch a ballgame and watch them cook. A lot of people think he just opened that place a couple/three years ago the truth is that he was on Rainbow for about 10 years and he's has quite the following they just didn't want to renew his lease on Rainbow. Anyway I'm just rambling and glad you enjoyed yourself.

Love would be #1 in my book at the Mirage and you don't have to get top dollar seats which can be expensive but a must see.
After that Mystere at T.I. which has nothing to do with MGM anymore and IMO Ruffin is an A-Hole with no idea on how to run a business but the show is Great but after the show time to leave. O at Bellagio is also a great show and some people would tell you it's the best it's 3rd on my list LOVE beats it by a mile even if you don't know who the Beatles are. A very High Energy Show. The stage at O is not to be believed I think in 1998 when build it cost 8/9 million. It goes from floor to water and I'm talking about people high diving. Best Stage. Can't go wrong with either one.

Hey that was one of the two I was going to tell him about. I live 1 minute from there. If you like spaghetti and clams with the clams chopped my favorite way but they make it anyway you want and if you don't see something that's on the menu ask. They have a Bass with a picata sauce or anyway you want that will knock you off the table. Once a year Pete goes fishing for Sea Bass for two weeks and brings it home with him and you never had anything like this whiter then snow and so good you want to lick the plate. If you want to to stay traditional they make the best chicken Parm you'll ever eat. Head chef is Pete . When I was working me and my assistant were there every Thursday night at 7:30pm.

My man, you holding out on us or are you going to share that 2nd restaurant? ;)

On Wednesday the wife and I decided that I had heard so much about the restaurant "Bonefish" that we decided to try it out and I was looking forward to the Bang Bang Shrimp. Just some details I eat just about anything that comes from the sea but my wife on the other hand doesn't eat any fish at all. So I order the Bang Bang Shrimp and to my surprise they had a Wednesday Night special for $6 instead of the usual $12.

We eat late because of all the years we worked swing shift and she still does so we had 8pm reservations and the place had a few tables going not as many as you would normally see in my neighborhood at that time. The shrimp came and the order was huge and it was pretty good and I really liked the bite at the end going down your throat. So Far so good as the server was very polite and answer questions that we had with no hesitation.

I was going to order the trout until I seen the Chilean Sea Bass and was offered the 6oz or 8oz so I took the 8oz and ordered the Lemon/Butter as the sauce. Well the fish was slightly under cooked but not to where it had to be sent back maybe another 30 seconds would have been perfect but it was drowned in butter sauce so much you could hardy taste the lemon and it gave the fish a greasy taste.

The sides that it came with was snap peas and broccoli. The peas seemed old and not really fresh and the Broccoli was like mush no color or crunch way over done or old. Took a bite of each and left them. Finished the fish getting past the butter.
My wife had the Lamp Chops and a crispy or crusted potato which was very good. I may give it one more chance to taste the crusted Trout.
The business of restaurants the failure rate is very high but it seems in my hood Summerlin it's very rare that a restaurant closes.
Roy's use to be in that spot and it's right in the middle of Carrabba's and Flemings which are all the same owners and IMO this place may not make it if the food I had is the standard of the rest of the menu. We will give it another shot but for me it's always tough going back after a bad experience

Almost forgot there was no bread or butter or anything put out on the table. I was thinking maybe you had to ask and if that's the case not good actually none or asking isn't good.

That sounds terrible! I've never had such an experience at Bonefish, but I've only been to ones in the Southeast. It's a chain, so my expectations are always lower, but I've always enjoyed the bang bang shrimp a lot. Entree wise: one time I ordered something other than the trout and it was just avg. so I've stuck to the trout every time since. It's not great, but it's good & I do enjoy it. I've never been crazy about the sides tho so I'm not shocked u were underwhelmed w/ them. I had the au gratin potatoes once & was underwhelmed so I just treat every visit as fish and chips night and get the trout w/ some fries. The reason I go is for the bang bang shrimp, just love that appetizer.

Fwiw, I've always been asked if I want bread.

Bonefish is a chain so its often hit or miss. Personally prefer Pappadeaux over Bonefish. I do love me some Bang Bang Shrimp though.

Oh and for those that like authentic napoletana pizza, check out "Settebello." Very good and close to what I've had in Italy. Reasonably priced too. I was shocked the other day when I saw the prices for this restaurant called "Pizza Rock." Ridiculous and no way that pie is worth that price tag.

BB, you finally arrived...did you end up buying? A few places to check out for you and others, my favorite local spot for italian (biased because it is on the green valley side) is Montesano's, not quite the same atmosphere as Mastrioni's but not the same check either but family owned and operated as well with awesome food and fresh bakery. Everything is made from scratch, you don't want to go on a friday or saturday night as the wait is out the door and you'll be waiting a bit longer for the food as the kitchen gets slammed. Here is their link and reviews:

    https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&rlz=1C1VFKB_enUS603US605&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=montesano%27s+eateria+italian

As far as steaks, chops, etc. The Charcoal Room at Palace Station is probably the biggest sleeper in town as far as quality/price I actually prefer to Hank's and it's probably about 30% less than most for as good or better quality IMO. Another one that doesn't get mentioned is the Silverado in Southpoint, also excellent for steaks and seafood...Gaughan takes care of his customers, one of the last ones in town that does IMO. As far as lunch, if you like Greek/Mediterranean you can't go wrong with Stefano's they have two locations one right near UNLV and the other in Green Valley off of Horizon Ridge and Eastern. Btw, I use to love Settebello ( Diavola Pizza) but not part of the diet anymore ;) ....in any case, Welcome to town!
