I talking about the moneyline. Serena was about -170. How did your bookmaker grade it? I'll get back here it a couple of days.

adding.......Serena retired in the first set being down 3-1.

I bet Serena and my bet was graded a push. Any match bet that does not complete the 1st set is a push, if they complete the 1st set it is graded according to who did not retire

[h=2]Tennis[/h][h=3]Retirement or Disqualification:[/h][h=4]1. Head to Head Matchups:[/h]One full set must be completed for Money Line wagers to stand. If less than 1 set is completed, all Money Line wagers will be considered void. The winner of the match is the participant declared the victor by the umpire of the match.
Example: Nadal trails 0-6, 0-2 vs Djokovic and Djokovic is forced to retire due to injury (or disqualification). All money line wagers stand. Nadal is declared the winner while Djokovic is deemed the loser. All other bets on the Spread, total, team total and sets betting will be void regardless of current score.

If a player retires before the 1st set is completed, all wagers on the match will be considered void.Example: Nadal leads 2-0 vs Djokovic who retires due to injury. All wagers considered void.

Pretty sure he means that they pay regardless of whether a full set is completed, as long as the match starts. If I recall correctly our resident tennis expert h8 switched to this grading format this year. All of my offshore books use the full set grading, but apparently there are some that use the match started grading.

first off that retire quit shit is garbage anyway, what kind of shit is that? I still think even the after 1 set rule is garbage, if they dont play the game completely all full match bets should be cancelled.

tons of times win the 1st set and leading 2nd and then they get their skirt caught under their tennis shoe and get a red mark and quit, Completely BS!

I wish they cancelled all match bets on any quitter

Ha! I loved the one set rule today. I was on Kenin.

I don't think it really matters much, you'll be on the right side some of the time and the wrong side some of the time regardless of which rule is in effect. I guess I've gotten used to the one set rule so it's fine with me.

Here's why I posed the question.
A close associate told me that his Serena-170 bet was graded a loser at a local casino in LV. Their rules clearly stated that retirement or walkover was a refund printed in black and white. Upon repeated inquiries with upper management, they insisted the Serena wager was a loser. IMO this is a slam dunk reversal for the player with the Gaming Commission. For such a small wager, I recommended he take the loss and avoid continual controversy for chump change. The dispute was resolved amicably but not fairly IMO.

vegas doesn't need to conform because they don't lay off bets like some offshore places do.

Resolved by him eating the loser instead of getting a push? That isn’t my definition of amicable.

What casino? I’ll be sure to never play there if they can’t even follow their own rules.

Dan, I think the first set completion rule is the way to go. Your suggestion leaves the door open for larceny. A certain group, allegedly Ukrainian, would load up on 'their' player especially when a considerable 'dog. If the player is losing late in the match.......a mysterious injury would appear and he/she would retire. It's a refund or win situation. Nice action. *source offshore

    Spider,
All I'll say is it was a local joint. Resolution mighta been a comp.

    Railbird,
Why the double post on an elementary answer?

makes sense, I did not think of it as the scammer which is probably about 1 out 4 tennis matches, everytime I see a big long shot win its usually some eastern europe player big favorite that lost, especially seems that way in Soccer for sure
