been playing for a very very long time, havent played in AC in a while so a friend invited me to go with him this weekend ....everything comped , they picked us up ,drove us to AC and then back home.
I was more interested in just watching a game i bet and looking at some of the hot women walking around.
I was doing my thing and found my buddy playing two hands at a time , he had 8 grand on one hand and 9 on the other ...won them both.....anyway my question is ,are cards pre mixed now ? he tells me he wont play once they change the cards even though they are pre mixed , for the life of me ive never heard of this . He thinks the cards are more random late in the day and even before cards were pre mixed he wouldnt play when they changed to cards. Is there and advantage with a shoe that has been in play longer then a shoe that is new and just mixed ?
thanks

I'm going to have go with no.
Gamblers are exceptionally vulnerable to pareiodolia and confirmation bias, and I have a hunch your friend is falling victim to to this.

I agree with Benny. Let me ask when you say pre-mixed do you mean they don’t crack the decks and show you the cards before shuffling and putting them in shoe or are you talking about automatic shufflers.

Baccarrat tables, especially macau style, where the players bend the shit out of the cards, use pre-mixed sets of cards made up of 8 decks. I can't see casinos using those on a BJ table unless they open the table that way and then use the shuffle machines after that. But it sounds like he was in a high limit room so maybe they (casinos) can afford that luxury in there.

On mini-bac tables they are pre-mixed at the casino I play at, but they are still verified and then put in the automatic shuffle machines before being dealt.

ill have to double check if they take them out of the box and put right in the shoe...without showing the cards first.
Am just wondering what the advantage is by playing a table with the cards in play for a long time before they put new cards in and shuffling them the old way...from what i understand is they change the cards in the early am....its been awhile...how many times in a day do they change the cards ...is it a set time ...thank for opinions.

Usually and I can only speak from Las Vegas shoes are changed once a day and depending on casinos it usually when graveyard comes in at 4am. Also any continuous 6/8 deck shuffle machines same thing. Double decks whether it’s hand held or machine every 4 hours. It use to be 2 hours and some still do 2 hours as I said it depends on the casino but that’s the general guidelines.

I was at MGM National Harbor (near DC) last night and they used a 6 deck pre-shuffled set when they opened the table. They verified the cards, then loaded them into the Continuous Shuffle Machine. They don't have too many shoe dealt BJ tables. I'm a small time player so I don't know what happens in the High Limit room.

They take about 52 cards and fan them out, face up, to be sure they are pre-shuffled. They then flip them over, fan them out, and check one edge of the backs, pick them up, turn them 180 degrees, fan them out to check the other edge of the backs. They check the edges on the backs to look for irregularities.

I didn't pay full attention when they did it. I'm only about 90% sure they checked the face of the cards. I'm sure of how they checked the backs, though.
FYI, I'm a dealer at another casino in the area, so I was interested in how they did it, and paid attention thru most of it.
