Monday night game plan
Broncos coaches have not made any decisions about how much their starters
will play Monday night against the Redskins. Do not expect the majority of
Denver's starters to play more than a series, tops.
Much of the game will be used for an extended tryout for younger players,
especially wide receivers and running backs.
"The big thing when you've got an extra preseason game is you've got a
great chance to look at all your young guys," offensive coordinator Gary
Kubiak said. "I would imagine that's where we are heading Monday night."
Broncos coaches have studied their young receivers in practice and have
come away impressed.
"This is the sharpest group of young players that we've had," Kubiak said.
"There's not a lot of mental busts at the receiver position, and that's
going to be a positive for us."
