NFL Preseason Week 1 Recap

We got two wins last night which I will gladly accept, but I was wrong
about the best QB on the field in Green Bay. It was Seneca Wallace, who
played a very solid game in leading Seattle to the win. Green Bay still
seems to have a carryover of last year's defensive problems heading in to
week 2 of preseason.
In Tampa, Chris Simms looked like he had a good grasp of Tampa's offense
during his time in the game and looked like the better QB against Carson
Palmer in his ability to move the football. Time will tell who the better
QB in the draft was. Too early to predict future success.
We finish Week 1 with a record of 8-2/+16.5 Units. We had only totals in
the first week of preseason play. More plays here later in the week, with
the next game on Thursday night, NYG at the Panthers.
Best of luck to all during the week.

...on a solid weekend of capping!

I agree on your comments about Wallace, Simms, and the GB defense. Seneca
has a bright future from what I read and see about him in camp. Hasselbeck
has a firm hold on the starter's position and I expect him to have a very
solid season but down the road this team could be run by Seneca. I
originally didn't think he'd have all the necessary skills to play QB in
the NFL coming out of Iowa State (where he was a major stud I might add,
made a fortune betting on him and the Cyclones 2 seasons ago) but after
seeing the fundamentals he has, I have to admit he may well have a solid
career in the NFL. I agree, it is way too early to tell (same for Simms)
but looks like both of them could be major contributors down the road if
their progress continues like we saw last night.

    Thank you, Guru.
I think that the media, scouts and coaching staffs tend to pump up some
guys who come from major programs and score high on fundamentals such as
size and speed in the 40. Many people tend to overlook heart and desire.
Wallace is MAYBE six feet, which as you know tends to eliminate you from
the QB position in the NFL. Until the last few years, being
African-American at QB was another strike against you. Then arm
    strength...
Anyway, people like Seneca Wallace and Phil Simms, who has great
bloodlines but could "never win the big one" at Texas sometimes end up
with better careers than the "big studs"... time will tell...
    Good Luck, Guru!
