I would like to see some literature on the subject of Martindale betting
systems.

You probably mean Martingale....Basically a system of chasing
losses....Example...Bet one unit, if it loses, bet 2 (1 lost plus 1 for
profit), if that misses, bet 4 (3 lost plus 1 for profit)...and on and on.
You hope you don't get to the point where you are betting something like
64 or 128 units to effectively make one. Mathematically, you won't get
there too often, but when you do, it can, and usually will wipe you out.
Also, limits will usually come into play.

You can read more...just head over to Yahoo and search for martingale
    systems...plenty will come up.

I blew $1,200 on a Martingale system at blackjack.
Figured I could play 10cents a hand and keep doubling my bets, worked well
for the first week and I blew $1,200 in about 5 minutes...The one's for
the RoadSystem seem a bit more sensible, but becareful!

The road system is more sensible at it stops after 7 games max, and all
games are on a dog, so the outlay isn't quite true Martingale. Still, can
be brutal with only a couple misses. There are other Martingales, where
you only go 6 or 7 rounds, then start over until you get a hit, but in the
    long run, they all fail.
