NBA: San Antonio Spurs at Detroit Pistons - Pistons -3 -110
Game Date: 6/19/2005
Note: In honor of Fathers Day, the Detroit Pistons will be asking the
Spurs quite often tonight in Auburn Hills, Michigan..."Who's Your Daddy?"
It was the same question asked by the Mexican Army back in 1836 at the
Alamo in San Antonio. During that famous battle Commader William Barret
Travis uttered the cry "Victory or Death." Well, we know the outcome there
and we also know the outcome tonight at The Palace in Motown. The Spurs
are just simply out-manned tonight and I am afraid they will have an Alamo
of their own. San Antonio has been outplayed and outscored 198-150 in the
two games at Detroit and the likelihood of that that changing in this
final game on the road is not good. Star Player Tim Duncan has been woeful
at best hitting just 10-32 shots from the court as the Pistons "hands in
your face" defense has completely stymied the Spurs attack. Larry Brown
and the crew has effectively taken Ginobili out of commission and Bowen
has been ineffective defensively. Meanwhile, the Pistons are getting
across the board play for all team members including the bench. Certainly
the flying beer, verbal abuse, and bomb threats issued by the always fun
crowd at The Palace has been a factor. Another famous individual, Davy
Crockett, who also died at the Alamo, once said, "Fame is like a shaved
pig with a greased tail, and it is only after it has slipped through the
hands of some thousands, that some fellow, by mere chance, holds on to
it." If Davy were in a Spurs uniform tonight, I am sure he would saying
the same about the Pistons. San Antonio might be able to grab that tail
back at home on Tuesday, but the Pistons are gonna be way too greasy
tonight...again....
