The tweet was based on this which was posted in a forum:
"A few have emailed and tweeted me and this is all i can say. Police showed up at the doors looking for the owner (Calvin) and he was not there. They ended up taking computers and other things for evidence. Apparently owner is wanted and was doing business under different name and may have been in Philippines illegally.
I do know for a fact on February 22 2012 the United States Attorneys Office for the District of Maryland served Calvin Ayre an arrest warrant on charges of illegal gambling and money laundering.
Basically Calvin is MIA and will remain that way. This basically spells the end of Bovada/Bodog."
I think it's pretty much old news that Calvin Ayre is wanted and was distancing himself from the US market. I think it's quite a stretch to say they're shutting down and absconding with player funds. That said, I wouldn't be keeping any life changing money there, as I wouldn't with any other offshore book/poker site.
I'd keep checking 2+2 if you're really concerned. Should be in the "internet" forum. There's already a dedicated Bovada thread there but I didn't see anything in it regarding this (at least that was new). GL

Fwiw, I also don't see anything beyond what's already been posted & the paranoia is so high over there that when a site goes down for more than 5 minutes they assume the sky is falling.
