One of my all time favorites, respected by all the big time coaches. Recruited me when he was at CMU, knew I was never going there(and I wasn't going to play basketball) but he was the best coach contact I ever had. Truly class individual and the sharpest wit you'll ever see.

He was my gym coach at Saginaw High, around 1973-75. Pretty laid back gym coach. Pretty sure his main reason for being there was to coach the b-ball team to state championships.

I would have loved to have had him as a teacher. He taught a class at Miami while he was coaching there.

Classic "I don't think I'm going to shoot anybody" and "there is no place for a guide....next year go be a park director" :)

I always went to watch them when Miami would come to play W Michigan. I was there when he collapsed on the sideline, pretty scary. He was the only opponent I can ever remember get cheered every time he came in.

What HS did you go to Stevie? He was a heck of a coach at CMU and Miami. I was at the WMU game where he had the health issues a few years back also. Total old-school coach.

One of the greats, was always fun to watch his teams execute on offense. Rem emember seeing him at UCLA a few yrs ago. maybe 100 people at the game. I never drove to La to see Jordan,Lebron, or Kobe play but did drive to LA to see Charlie Coles coach.
