State of Washington Report

Things not going well here in the state of Washington; Cougs 1-4, Huskies 0-4, Seahawks 1-3. Brutal.

UW--Jake Locker's 2nd quarter injury (he tore up his thowing-hand thumb while throwing a block in a reverse play), doomed the Huskies against Stanford, and since he's out 6 weeks, the injury probably also doomed the season and Ty Willingham's job as well. The Dawgs travel to Tucson today and are currently 24 point underdogs. That's a lot of points and I'm tempted to take them, but Huskies are so horrible on defense that I just don't see anyway that Wildcat QB Tuitama won't light them up like he did last year (a 48-41 Az win).
Pick: Az -24

WSU--Same thing here. Cougs down to third string QB. In fact, Coach Paul Wulff went public last week, inviting members of the general student population to come out and tryout for a back QB position to help run the scout team (no kidding). Cougs even worse than UW on defense and K. Bell for UCLA runs wild today. Bruins really need this one for their psyche and they won't let up.
Pick: UCLA -17

Seahawks--Hawks travel to NY this week to play the Giants. As we've mentioned here before, Hawks are notoriously flat when they travel to the East Coast for a game (witness the Buffalo debacle earlier this year, though Buff at 4-0 doesn't make it look as bad now). Hawks would probablay be 2-1 now if they had been healthy at receiver and they finally get Deion Branch and Bobby Engram back this week to replace the absolute no-names they've been going with. This should help on both sides of the ball.
Sticking with the Hawks here.
Pick: Seahawks +7 1/2

Record: 1-1 last week, 5-6 overall
