5 Dimes and credit card theft

BEWARE..
I made a deposit via credit card to 5 Dimes a couple months ago...and shortly after received a phone call that someone in San Fran was trying to use my info to purchase a meal without my authorization...this credit card account was closed and a new account was created for me..
I then used the new card to make another deposit into my 5Dimes account...again someone in San Fran tried to use this account to charge multiple Uber rides..

I only made 1 transaction with the new credit card account...that was at 5 Dimes..
The only common denominator between the 2 credit card fraud alerts was 5 Dimes..

They are the leak..

Same here. I've used 5 dimes to deposit and my card was used fraudulently. Had to cancel it. Watch Out!

You actually used a debit card with access to your banking.

It's been a problem with 5 dimes for a while now.

I've done it in years past so not judging but you are crazy to give these type of sites your card numbers/info.

Anyone have any email transcripts from 5Dimes and tough guy Tony? Let's here about all the gifts he gives his customers and how they whitewash this larceny. I heard an oldie the other day by the Tremeloes called "Silence is Golden".

Also sung by "The Four Seasons", but the "Tremeloes" version was better.

Happened to me as well same as original post. Had fraudulent transaction on card I have had for many years and used at 5dimes. Account was closed, new card issued and only used at 5dimes. Fraudulent charges appeared within a few days on new card.

There have been several threads about this on Reddit. Reddit threads always attract a handful of trolls, but enough posters with established posting histories have reported these issues that I suspect a lot of the complaints are legitimate.

Multiple people also reported on the problem on SBR, and one of the scumbag mods on SBR that, shockingly, almost always sides with sponsor books, went on some rant about "social justice warriors" and deleted all the threads. http://www.sportsbookreview.com/forum/sportsbooks-industry/3363690-threads-about-cc-problems-deleted.html

The most ridiculous claim in that SBR thread from the scumbag mod is:
Since that time some posters think it's a social justice warrior issue to repost the same stuff over and again... and low and behold each time another moron pops up and says "oh yeah, I am the same. Use one card for nothing but this one book so that proves it".

    1) No one keeps a card for each book they use as the credit damage it would do to keep all those cards would hurt you.

    2) If a person genuinely did that for just one book, ask yourself why? Only logical reason would be that they wanted to set up a fake scenario to attack that book.

From his posts he appears to be not American so probably just clueless about how books that accept deposits from US customers operate (which begs the question why he's allowed to moderate a forum that largely deals with US customers). I don't think it's a good idea to go into detail about deposit methods on a public forum, but general comments:

    1) I know countless people who deposit via a card they only use at that particular book because that card was specifically obtained because it works with that particular book.

    2) 5Dimes customer service will specifically tell customers about certain cards other customers have successfully used.

That having been said, it's possible the issue isn't 5Dimes' fault, per se. It could be an issue with their credit card processor -- if you're going to accept US action, you obviously need to deal with a processor willing to skirt US law, so you aren't exactly dealing with the most above board companies here. Or, it could be an issue with a rogue employee, for example how a rogue BetPhoenix employee leaked my IP address, password, and other personal info to John Adamczak aka Johnny Detroit a couple years ago. However, once they become aware of the problem, they have to deal with it, and having SBR delete a bunch of threads essentially makes 5Dimes complicit in the scam.

Let me see if I can wrap my head around this. So you made a deposit via CC at 5 Dimes and you had to cancel because of charges that were made on that CC. So after thinking about where you used the card you had to come up with some suspicion it was 5Dimes. So you contacted your bank they issued a new card with a new number and you then proceeded to use the new card at 5Dimes again and was surprised when the same thing happened.
