There will be no cost to enter this contest. There will be no signup sheet or limit to the amount of posters who can play in the contest (only one entry per poster). If you would like to participate in the contest all you have to do is make a play in the "Last Man Standing Day 1 contest thread" that will be up next Wednesday evening. You will have until 5 minutes before the start of our July 15th cards last game to enter the contest by making your daily selection. After that deadline there will be no more entries for the contest.
Last Man Standing or I think some call it Survivor, is pretty simple contest but let me quickly try and post what it's about and some of the rules of the contest that we will be using.
1) You post one selction in the daily contest thread ONLY from a list of games that we will have posted in the beginning of the daily thread. If your selction wins you survive and move on to the next days list of games where once again you must choose only one play from that daily list and if your selection wins then you move on again to the next days card and so on and so forth...... If your selection loses you are eliminated from the contest.
2) I will post between 10-20 plays a day (sides, totals, runlines, etc..) from baseball, arena football, wnba or whatever other sport that may be going on for that particular day. Whatever is posted in the daily thread for that particular game is the official line we will be using for the contest.
3) PLEASE no other posting in the official daily thread other then your play for the day. With the possibility of a lot of people in this contest we don't want to be fishing through lots of comments to find a play. So please everyone do us a favor and keep discussion in these threads to a minimal and preferably not at all or at least until we get down towards the end of the contest and there are a lot less people playing.
4) Also this means no write ups of who and why you chose your team, etc... All this does is confuse everyone. PLEASE JUST POST YOUR PLAY FOR THE DAY ONLY IN THE THREAD, thanks.
5) You have up until 5 minutes before your game starts to post your play which also means you have 5 minutes before the last game of the night goes off to post a play for that day. So if Cleveland is your play and their game goes off at 7:05 then your play on Cleveland must be in BEFORE 7:00 pm on the time of your post in the thread. The reason why we don't make this 1 minute before is because someone could go back and edit their post after a has game started as I think the edit feature gives somone 5 minutes to do so (maybe Edward or someone else can verify this but in most forums I know this is true). So if you were to post at 7:04 and your team goes out and allows 2 quick runs, you could actually go back in and edit your post to pick the other team instead and as long as you do this before 7:09 then no one would know that you had used edit. I know this is pretty sneaky stuff and sounds really stupid but believe it or not I have seen it done before in these type contests so to avoid any of that is why we have the 5 minute rule. Double check your play if your posting late and make sure that the game hasn't went off. For now I am thinking if you catch yourself posting a play late then you can still go back in and do another game as long as its before that games deadline. I don't want to disqualify anyone for this error as that seems kind of a harsh pealty but if they dont catch their mistake in time to post another play for the day then I say it counts as a loss and the poster is out of the contest. No exceptions to this rule either so if you post Cleveland at 7:02 and it wins and you don't fix it and play another game in time then its counted as a loss and you are out of the contest. Free free to comment on any of this. If this rules changes I will keep everyone posted but for now we will go with this.
6) If you don't make a play for the day then your out of the contest with a loss. No exceptions to this rule, it's the last man standing and the goal is to keep winning every day. The only time someone advances in the contest without winning their play is if the game they chose was canceled.
7) Winning entry must win his final play to win the contest. Meaning if 2 or more people all lose on their last play and no survives the day then all posters who were in that days contest will come back the next day and we will continue to play until their is only one poster left standing.
8) The last person standing wins $250 into their Bookmaker account.
9) If a game rains out then player must make 2 selctions the following day. Once a game is declared an official rainout then the player can't pick that game as their play so please be careful and check beforehand that your play isn't rained out. If your game rains out you can't go back and pick another game for that day, you must pick 2 plays the following day only. But if you post your play and its a rainout and its been already announced then you must post another play before the end of the day or your play will be treated like the 5 minute rule and will be declared a loss and you will be out of the contest.
10) We will use the same rules as the books use with rain shotened games meaning all sides are official if game goes the 5 required innings and one team is declared a winner and all totals are considered void and a player must make two selctions the following day.
11) In the event that your selection pushes (ends in a pointspread tie) the poster will have to make 2 selections the following day.
12) We will treat every game as a action play meaning if your pitcher gets scratched you get the new guy, no changing of your play.
Probably better to post the game number also but be extra careful please and double check your post.
