Recap: Won with Dallas over Utah in the NBA
NBA Spreads: 6-3 + 2.7 units, ROI 27%
NBA Moneylines: 1-1 +.35 units ROI 17.5%

513 LA Lakers -1.5 over 514 Houston Rockets

There is no weakness on the part of the Lakers that causes them to play close games and even lose one so far. The Lakers are just so confident of being able to turn it on at will and win the Western Conference going away that they are already on cruise control and won’t use 100% of their skill or energy unless they really need it. That is what we have going for us tonight. Mentally the Lakers will prep and play better versus good competition than weak. I would remind fans of their trip to the East year when they beat both the Celtics and Cavaliers on the road in the same trip. The Lakers like to be challenged and do not sleepwalk their way through those games. The public likes the Rockets tonight thanks to their recent run without Yao Ming (McGrady is irrelevant) but the Lakers are just as aware of the Rockets success as anyone else and tonight they will turn it up, turn it on, and win going away.

515 Dallas Mavericks +4.5 at New Orleans Heat

False favorite. Bettors are remembering a former version of the Hornets and reading too much into Dallas comeback last night. That should not have been surprising at all as I said the Jazz were weak off the bench, playing a B2B, and would not have the stamina for the whole game. Now bettors are looking at the Mavericks as the team with a B2B on the road and are looking for the same results. When I said in the Hornets-Knicks analysis that the Hornets should probably not often lay points and never on the road, I meant it. They are not on the road tonight of course, but still should not be laying points to a far superior team. The Mavericks on the road will not look anything like the Jazz did last night an should win outright, but my margin does not allow for a moneyline play. GL, Key

Dwayne and CP3 would be a sick backcourt. But who would wear # 3??? J/K

Thanks for tonight's picks and last night's winner!!!

Any thoughts on the Wiz over the Heat???

I almost played the Wiz today. The Heat hustled their fannies off versus the Suns last night and could be fatigued tonight. The public seems to like the Heat so if that line comes down a little more it looks very very playable. Also lean toward the over in that one.

True, I might lean toward the U in this one, assuming Joel Anthony can stay out of foul trouble I see him playing a lot of minutes with JO having a broken nose and being 200 years old. Joel has under written all over him with his solid D and brick hands on O.

You have pegged the Lakers dead-on. Without Gasol they won't be playing their best ball until April. But they'll cruise along and win the west again. the question will be whether or not they can handle the Celtics wihtout HC advantage.

unless injuries happen we are headed for a great showdown in June between the two teams.

There are other legitimate contenders but when the best of them get together anywhere we should get a good read on the finals. FWIW, my data base needs 1 or 2 losses for the top teams to get a true read on them, but you can't argue with success and the Celtics have not failed yet, so grant the Devil his due.

    Good Luck Mr Key.
love your last line in your Laker/Rocket write-up.

Lakers are just as aware of the Rockets success as anyone else and tonight they will turn it up, turn it on, and win going away.

yeah, Tons, I can live with that, but man you need to get here earlier. I try to hit the book and post when the line is best. Sometimes it doesn't work but more often than not I am pretty close to the time I have the best advantage.

I wish i could get here earlier. Site is blocked at work and i do not have one of those "cool" cell phones that get full functioning internet.

I get home from work around 5:30 and come on here and look for yours, calzonesays, rayj, and rudy's picks. I have pretty much followed all 4 of you guys NBA picks and have gone 15-5-1 to start the season. I suppose i could hit up the local library near work and come check out the site

What time do you generally post your first picks at?

That depends on whether or not I am waiting on line movement, but generally by 3 PM EST. Your situation being what it is I think you should be mentally prepared to eat a point when you get home, so there is no further delay in your play, and only come here to ask if it is greater than that. If the line is moving against you it may cost even more or eliminate the play if you are waiting for an answer here. I can't speak for the other guys but maybe if they catch this post they might feel the same way. I know rayj got down on a total today at 202 and someone asked him if 202.5 was OK. His response was OK to 205 so apparently he is OK with a little movement to, but be sure to ask.
