ESPN has told college officials that it will not use the controversial “cover alerts” that it rolled out during one game telecast earlier this month.
But that doesn’t mean that ESPN is going to shy away from referring to point spreads and over-under lines on its studio shows. ESPN has allowed more gambling references on its air this season, a move that has irked many college administrators. But it was one Friday night highlight earlier this month that really generated howls of protest from university executives.
Was a shining moment in gambling TV history, sad to see it was before its time. And F the NCAA AD's and commissioners. They should have to give up any TV rights $ that is tied to those gambling increasing the revenue. Would see what they did then if they had to give up the "blood money".
Classy move by Strong. I don't know, maybe every coach would have done the same, but it was still a nice gesture on his part to stay there with the kid, I can't even imagine how bad that kicker felt. Maybe somewhere down the line the kid kicks a game winning FG, and remembers how supportive his coach was when he was at his lowest

Great point. It's nice to hear that the team is supporting him.
David Stern: NBA Would Seek "Payment" for Sports Betting Legalization (and Other Interesting Revelations)
It turns out the Adam Silver was not the first NBA Commissioner to raise the prospect of legalized sports betting. Nearly two years before current NBA Commissioner Adam Silver penned the now-famous New York Times Op-Ed calling for the legalization of sports betting via a “federal framework,” his predecessor, David Stern, hinted at the very same thing. In a recently-unsealed deposition from the professional sports leagues' and NCAA's 2012 federal lawsuit to block New Jersey's efforts to legalize sports betting (the "Christie I" case), Mr. Stern elaborated on comments he made to Sports Illustrated columnist Ian Thomsen in a December 11, 2009 interview in which he stated that legal sports betting was a “possibility.”

Goodell is wrong, here's a quote from him. "Fantasy football's not based on the outcome of a game, It's based on the performance of individuals they select." Okay, but the performance of the individuals selected has a direct bearing on the outcome of the game. It makes no sense to allow someone to bet on how many TD's Aaron Rodgers throws, but not allow the same person to bet on how many points his team will win by.

Of course it is but the NFL doesn't get any $$$ from supporting traditional sports betting. Give those greedy fucks a cut and watch their tune change. Same with the gov't.
