I'm not betting the game, but I did take Ryan Anderson to win the three-point contest (+ 350)

I bet Over at 289 as soon as I saw it, 294 now and would probably still play Over.

I love the over and we know Westbrook will take as many shots as he can to win the MVP.

    I'm also playing under 1q, over 2ndq, over 1sth, over 3q, under 4q.

Under 4q heavy, they usually play defense last 4 minutes.

Right on Coops. I checked out the last 5 years.

All 4Q totals are lined about 73-74.
    Averages last 5 years:
    1Q ave = 65 - high = 71
    2Q ave = 79 - low = 74
    3Q ave = 72 - high = 82 low = 60 ... last 3 = 79, 77, 72
    4Q ave = 63.8 - high = 74... other 4 = 65, 53, 64, 63

Agreed, when I look at most year's MVP chances, I have a couple trains of thought...

    1) Who's going to be rested the most and/or could care less about winning MVP?
A: Duncan and Parker seem obvious here. Nothing to prove and much-needed rest. Garnett. Same. Wade & Bosh, probably. Kobe, should but will he?

    2) Who else can we rule out without too much quarreling (taking into account all-star game tendencies of jump shooting/slashing/dunks/lobs or lack of PT?
Aldridge, Lopez, Noah, Lee, Howard, Bosh, Chandler, Randolph, Holliday (PT), Deng, George

    That leaves me with
    East: LeBron, Irving, Melo,
West, Durant, Paul, Griffin, Westbrook, Harden

With Rondo out, the East only has two true PGs: Irving & Holliday.
The West has to find time for Paul, Westbrook & Parker, though again, Parker likely won't demand too much PT. Still, one of those other two would have to absolutely go off in limited PT (and avoid getting the ball to Harden, Durant and Griffin). I think Paul is past the point of trying to win ASG MVPs. Westbrook will be gunning, for sure. I can't imagine LeBron going balls out tonight for some reason. He's an unselfish player and is on his way to winning another MVP (and possibly title). Just see him putting together a strong line but not MVP caliber and would never lay such short odds on the ASG MVP.

In the end, for me, it comes down to the following:
    East:
Melo -my first choice - a lot to prove, can score at will from any spot on the floor, will benefit from lack of defense/easy baskets
Irving -to complete his dream weekend --- this is the highlight of his season as the Cavs aren't playoff bound ---East down a PG
Longshot: Kobe if he gets hot early and goes into gunner mode (i.e. typical Kobe) and chases down a 5th ASG MVP

    West:
Durant - I won't lay the short odds with him either, but I feel he has something to prove and he has the same pluses as Melo
Harden -comfortable in the building, will get minutes, not a title contender, something to prove ---wish he were more like +1500
Westbrook/Griffin - Can Russell score 30 points and dish out 10 assists in 20 minutes? Sure, but he'd have to play extremely selfish hoops. Can Griffin score 30 on 10 lobs/dunks plus a few legitimate highlight plays? Sure, but not likely to impact the game with guys like Westbrook, Harden and Durant all looking to get their shots.

When it comes down to it, there are 4 guys I'd consider putting money on: Melo, Irving, Durant, Harden - probably in that order. Westbrook would be a good long shot...

my 2 cents is worth about the same, but, just like Spud Webb getting the nod over the Human Highlight Reel in his hometown in dunk contest,

    8209 James Harden +1015

and he has some shit to prove, no?

    Total 4 wagers:

    MVP - Westbrook + 2800

    Points in 2nd qtr Over 74 1/2

West total points in 1st half Over 75

    My favorite:

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook + 1

    points

    vs

    King James and Kyle Irvin

[Ticket #: 135800xxx] PLAYER TO MAKE FIRST 3 PT SHOT IN GAME EAST/WEST
    02/17/2013 @ 05:05 PM TNT
    [99220] CARMELO ANTHONY -- SC 1ST 3 PTS SHOT IN GM +600

Love this one, for some reason. It's between Durant, Melo & Kobe IMO.

yikes. just dunk the damn ball :)... isn't that what this game is all about for 3.5 qtrs.

According to ESPN, Durant has a +/- of +41 in his 11 minutes played. Fairly certain that is a misprint as the score is 42-41 right now...

LeBron, Griffin and Westbrook have done just that. Durant, Irving and Anthony scoring from all-over. 2Q Over looking good...

Hypothetical: If Paul finished with 20 assists-10 points-5 steals, does he take MVP? On the other hand, LeBron and Griffin have both scored with minimal effort. No defense, easy dunks. In my opinion, what Paul is doing is more difficult up to this point.
