Horse of the day for 2/2

By DAN ILLMAN
Gulfstream Park - Race 9
1 1/8 Miles (Turf)
Maiden Special Weight
3-year-old fillies
Purse $44,000.
Anthony Sciametta Jr. has done a fine job filling in for Todd Pletcher at the Gulfstream meet with a pair of debut winners including 24-1 firster Brooklyn's Storm in a 9-furlong turf event on Wednesday. Here, Sciametta Jr. will send out MIRA COSTA, a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 turf winner Kicken Kris (Arlington Million, Secretariat Stakes), and Grade 2-placed dirt router Kris' Sis. By Kentucky Derby winner Thunder Gulch (sire of a route debut winner at Laurel last month) out of stakes-placed turfer Kicken Grass (earned blacktype at 10 furlongs with 94 Beyer), Mira Costa has plenty of turf and routing influences in her pedigree, and is inbred 3 x 3 to the legendary Mr. Prospector. The January 15 workout (5f - 1:03) is a bit interesting as it matches up with the Pletcher barn's Icy Atlantic, a recent runner-up to Lava Man in the Sunshine Millions Turf. Mira Costa attracts Pletcher's first-call rider, John Velazquez, and looks like an intriguing play.
ROCKINTOTHERHYTHM goes out for the red-hot John Kimmel barn ($4.25 ROI over the last five years with 3-year-olds making their career debuts on grass), and is the first foal from stakes-placed sprinter Juke (won her career debut). Juke is a half-sister to multiple Grade 2 dirt winner American Chance as well as stakes-winning sprinter Ophidian, and hails from a classy Claiborne Farm family. DYNACIELO was no match for Pletcher-trained Christies Treasure in Churchill Downs career debut, but she gave a good account of herself after breaking from post 11, and finished ahead of next-out Oaklawn Park maiden winner Mayomast. The half to Group 1-placed turfer Adair and Grade 3-placed turfer Cyclorama should be up close to the pace in this spot, and may get first crack at the pacesetter(s) turning for home. GALAXY DANCER cost $400,000 at auction, but her career has been stalled due to layoff lines. The Clement barn excels with turf runners, and the Kingmambo - Seattle Slew "nick" has produced champion Lemon Drop Kid so don't be surprised by some improvement
MIND ERASER is the first foal out of route stakes-winner Katy Kat (Bayou Breeders' Cup Handicap at Fair Grounds with 103 Beyer), and she should appreciate stretching out for her second start of the season. She took lots of money for her first race at the meet, and should be near the pace for dangerous barn. AMAZI exits a key race that produced three next-out winners, and her dam, Hishi Amazon, relished the turf in Japan. COMMUNIQUE may have been in over her head against stakes foes in career debut at Churchill as the runner-up had previously competed in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies. She fits well in this spot. DEPUTY PRINCESS is another Sciametta entrant trying turf for the first time. She'll be saddled with a tough outside post position if she does break in from the also-eligible list.
The selection: Mira Costa to win and place (9-2 odds or more)

so from what I can see he knows his business when it comes to
horses...but you know how it is...one week you are hot...the next week
you can't pick a winner...so is he good? some days yes..others no....
but he provides good information and he works for the daily racing form
and has written thousands of articles....so I think he is decent....I only
play horses once in a while...and he seems decent to me....gl
