field of challengers, few of who can be dismissed lightly. However, the
3yo from the Todd Pletcher barn has been brilliant this year winning his
last two starts in impressive fashion. Broke through with a powerful win
at Keeneland, defeating a key race field by nearly six lengths. Made his
stakes debut on the Preakness undercard and suffered a tough trip right
out of the gate. He was squeezed back shortly after the start, remained
boxed in from the backstretch into the far turn and had no where to go at
the top of the stretch. Velazquez navigated his way through and finally
got clear in mid stretch before he drew off to a four length victory. Been
working well at Belmont since that score and ships down to Colonial for
Pletcher who has won with both of his starters at this meet. Velazquez
comes along to help take down the lion's share of the half million dollar
purse.
