Sunday, July 17, 2005,
MLB Record 65-52-1
( Last Post:::: Saturday, July 16,::::1-0, Hou/StL Un 8 runs=W )
_________________________________
At 120pm cdt:
#962 Cubs/Zambrano (-200) hosting Pitts/Kip Wells,
----Zambrano (6-4, 3.85, in 18 starts, whip 1.23), a home in 2005 he is
3-1, 2.62 era, in 8 starts, has faced Pitts once this yr., at PNC park,
giving up 5 eruns in 6 inn, 7.50 era, but remember he was having trouble
with finger blister about that time, in the previous 3 years vs Pitt
Zambrano had a very low 2.22 era for a 5-1 record in 8 starts..In Day
games this yr he is 3-1, 2.17 era, in 8 starts.
----Kip Wells (6-9, 4.46 era, in 19 starts, whip 1.50), On the road, this
yr, he has been awful: 2-6, 6.23 era, in 10 starts including 11 home runs
in 52-which enters him in the "danger zone" of 1 HR in each 4.73 inn....In
his last 6 road games his team is 0-6 being outscored 45-9 by the
opposition. This yr. vs the Cubs he is 0-1 in 2 starts 3.14 era (Note:
both starts were at home where Wells throws much better...he's likely to
get lit-up at Wrigley today)
---- Cubs are 15-3 in their last 18 games vs Pitts. To me, this appears to
be a true 2-1 game, normally I would couple a high-juice game like this
with another game, but I don't see another Ilike this well, which is
something I have to be careful of when I like a game this well..but I'm
going to "stand-alone" with this one.
----Cubs bullpen has been used 5 inn allowing "0" runs since the All Star
break...Pitts used 9 inn allowing 5 runs.
----Weather Report: Part cloudy, 30% chance of rain, wind blowing out to
center field 10-15 mph, gametime temp near 95.
----
Pick: Cubs Zambrano (-200)
----
Good Luck to All
