Arizona Diamondbacks (135) Sun Jul 31 '05 2:20p Brandon Webb the DBacks starting hurler today for this contest at Wrigley against the Cubbies has struggled of late but is more than capable of righting what has been a sinking ship. Webb was in good form in his last outing going 6 strong innings before collapsing in the 7th. Inning. The Rays righty has been stable in road outings this season going 5-3 with a 4.09 ERA. He will be looking forward to facing a team he has had success against the past as is evidenced by a 2-0 record long with a stingy 1.66 ERA in 4 career starts in this series. The Cubbies will send Greg Maddux to the hill to face DRays batters today. The veteran right hander owns a ugly 1-9 record along with a 4.62 ERA in 14 career starts against Arizona. Final notes: Arizona is 17-11 L/28 day games for a .607 moneyline conversion rate (+7.8 units) . Bottom line: Maddux is most definitely in the twilight of his career and no longer commands respect from opposing batting orders.
