I spent the last few days with a professional horse player. It was very
educational. I thought some of you would find it interesting to know that
he never bets horses to win, ever.
He pays what he sees are sure bets and plays only to PLACE. That is it.
He went 5 for 5 on Sunday at Saratoga with his horse running 1st 3 times
and 2nd twice. Wagering $200.00/play he made $500.00 on the day.
Another thing he does, is that he never plays maiden races and only wagers
on a few races/card. He is very disciplined.
Anyway this is what he does for a living. His wagers range from 200 to
2000 on a race and he always spreads his action with several tickets to
avoi the IRS.

Just thought some of you would enjoy this. Also, he said if you insist on
betting horses to win put 25% of what you PLACE on the WIN. So if you bet
200 to PLACE - bet 50 to WIN.

He has been making a living at the track for 20 years now, with no other
source of income.

Peace

They were all chalk that paid from $2.80 to more than $3 to place but no
more than that.
Buthere is the thing. He doesn't look for chalk, he loks for horses that
he believes should win the race and is really confident that it will do no
worse than 2nd.
He says Saratoga has the best race horses in the world, so you will be
getting tons of pure speed and with the way the track is playing to front
runners all he can do is play the chalk.
He said Belmont is different.
His point is that you can't make a living betting the ponies trying to hit
the winner. But if you have patience and discipline you can enjoy steady
profits from the track with out the IRS ever knowing a damn thing.
And he added that on Friday and Saturday he didn't make a wager. He is
selective and then he pounces on the right ponies.

It is interesting.

At Saratoga i read somewhere that the inside was a powerful position.
Holes 123 just another hint.
