Last possesion of the first half

Why do teams that are down wind the clock down for the last shot? Why not just run your regular offense and if you get a great shot , just take it. Mich just got the ball back , down 13 with 26 secs left and don't get a shot off in time.

And if they do get it off, they rarely make it, but seem to get the rebound, with no time left. Or, they shoot a 3, when you need 1 or 2. Crazy, but very predictable.

theres no way the other team can score if you take the last shot......make or miss, theres no chance that your deficit will increase

The expected value of you taking the last shot is definitely greater than that of giving the other team a possession as well.

no way.........if you get the ball back with a full shot clock.....and you give your best shooter a wide open look. in ten seconds ............is that better than a bad look with 2 seconds left?

Agree Petty. That's like saying a short stop run run across the diamond until the last second, then through it. Or at least it's similar. If you have the shot, shoot it. Defense is an option. Why rush it with no chance at a tip in?

There's 20 minutes left in the game! Nobody needs to panic at halftime and worry about lengthening/shortening the game at that point.

If the game is tied with :20 seconds left, do you take the first good look or do you make sure that you get the last shot? It's the exact same idea.

One possession for you >>>>>> One possession for each team.

Do you guys the going for a 2-for-1 is a good idea? Well a 1-for-0 is even better.
