Is anyone else being audited at the Greek

Doing my normal routine and went to place a bet and saw my account was suspended. I have never had a problem in 10 years so I called and was told they were doing security procedures and needed to verify who I was as they had a different email address etc. I am supposed to send them my ID from the email address with other information to verify this and then they will open my acoount again. The guy says they are doing random checks etc.

Interesting, could you please let us know what turns out from this? Maybe others might confront these same security "checks". Thanks in advance.

    Nema,

I strongly suggest you do not send them anything and move on to somewhere else, at least, temporarily. What I find odd is the fact that that did not attempt to contact you and you had to find this out because your account was locked. Call them in a week, I would not be surprised if they say it was all a mistake.

On the other hand, if you have a significant balance with them, give them what they want...lol

Strongly disagree with Rudy's advice. Offshores do ask for ID, often when you request your first w/d, and it's become even more common over the past few years thanks to the UIGEA. Greek is one of the most reputable sportsbooks in the world. I have no idea why they're asking for your ID at this particular moment in time, but complying with their request is clearly better than letting your account remain locked.

As for your account being locked and asking you to call them, that's their standard operating procedure (as odd as it sounds). They do the same thing if you're betting steam or doing something else they don't like. Instead of e-mailing or calling you, this is their preferred method of contact.

Please let us know how it turns out.

Sure you strongly disagree with me because it is a day between Monday and Sunday!

Listen, buddy, you could have very well have made your points without starting by saying you strongly disagree with me. When is this sh_t going to end???

    Now to your points:

    - Of course offshores ask for ID and not only when you ask for a w/d but often from the get-go. But we are not talking about the beginning of his relationship with the Greek...he states 10 years!!!

    - No, this is not their standard operating procedure: although I no longer use these, BetJam and the Greek, and others, have contacted me via email on several occasions.

    - Lastly, it is your opinion that he should comply...it is MY OPINION that he should err on the side of caution

I thought your advice was potentially harmful to the poster so I chose to use the adverb "strongly." Yes, it was my opinion, and I am free to give it, just as you were free to give yours. Since I have direct knowledge that the management at TheGreek often freezes accounts with a message asking you to call in as opposed to e-mailing you, I shared that as well. Just b/c you were unaware of this practice doesn't make it any less common. You happen to be wrong on this issue.

You can continue to get defensive and angry anytime I disagree with you, but it's not going to change much. My goal in this thread was to help the poster who was asking for assistance, I could care less that it was you who responded with what I considered poor advice. My response would have been the same if it was Edward or a poster making his first ever post.

As it turns out, the poster sent in his ID and the issue was quickly taken care of. Why you advised the poster to ignore it, leave his account/money frozen for a week, and hope it magically went away is beyond me, but you're entitled to your opinion.

    Goat,

You saying this: "You happen to be wrong on this issue", sums it all up. You just do not get it, not my problem. My advice WAS sound...when it comes to offshore legalities, I know a heck of a whole lot more than you could ever imagine...again, my point, we all should err on the side of caution with this stuff!

Furthermore, I do not get defensive, but I DO get angry because your presentation skills are lacking. I am respectful as any one person could possibly be at BT, and to Edward, yet you continue to crawl up my arse. I wish you would PLEASE stop.

Make sure you are watching for RUDY's next post so you can once again show the board how much knowledge you have at my detriment.

    Have a nice night!

No, you are not. Goats stated when he first came to the forum that his handle was not Goat. He asked to be called Goats - same as it is spelled. You consistently like to refer to him as "Goat". Not even an above average poster, but any other member with an average level of respect, would reference him as he politely asked under his proper handle.

You were wrong on this particular issue. It's not a big deal, I doubt anyone thinks less of you because of it. But making false claims that you are "as respectful as anyone could possibly be at BT", is not the truth. You may feel that you are consistently "singled out". I would believe if I felt the same way that you seem to, I would change my actions and/or approach and eliminate this bothersome issue.

Rudy, I respectfully request that you chill out and lose the ego. You're not respectful towards me, you got angry because I used the adverb "strongly." I could have said I "politely" disagree or "respectfully" disagree, but I felt that your advice was potentially harmful, so I chose to use stronger language.

Then you go on to claim you know more about offshore legalities than I could ever imagine. Maybe you do, I have no idea, but that doesn't change my opinion of your advice. You didn't know that Greek often freezes accounts and makes people call them, which has nothing to do with "offshore legalities." I was using first-hand knowledge and I've been a professional gambler for close to a decade, so I stand by my advice and believe I am qualified to give it.

Finally, horn responds with a respectful post, and you pull out the 24 point bold font and claim that people are piling on. It was one poster, again just giving his opinion. This is why I said you get defensive. You're not being persecuted, I have nothing against you personally though I wish you could respond to criticism a bit better.

I'll try to be more respectful, but in my mind you're confusing disagreement with disrespect.

    Goats,

I could very easily respond to all the points you now raise, but I will not.

Let's turn the page for the benefit of all.

    Peace out, again,
    RUDY

btw - someday I hope I get the opportunity to tell you why and how I gained legal knowledge in this area...you probably will understand why and where I was coming from and why I am always careful

There's only one of me in real life too. ;)

It's not really plural, it's just a really old nickname from high school that even followed me to college. Many of my old friends called me nothing but Goats. At one point only my family and girlfriend called me by my given name.
