Week 3 Look-Ahead Lines: Broncos, Seahawks both will be favored by at least 16 points

If you’re looking for a “safe” Survivor Pool selection, Week 3 in the NFL will have not one, but two, big home favorites that could be exactly that.

For the second time in the last four weeks of NFL action, there will be two favorites of at least 16 points in the same week. (It also occurred in Week 17 last year when the 49ers were -16.5 against the Cardinals and the Broncos were -17 against the Chiefs.)

Seahawks -16.5 vs. Jaguars
Broncos -16 vs. Raiders

How rare are favorites this big? Since 1998, there have only been 38 teams favored by that much (about 2.5 per season). If you take the undefeated 2007 Patriots (8 times) out of the equation, that number shrinks to 30.

*Another fact: Since 1990, favorites of 16 or more are 61-3 straight up, but only 27-36-1 against the spread (42.9%). H/t to KillerSports.com for the database.
