What's the best time of year to vacation there? Temperature wise, I mean.

Late Sept, Oct, Nov, mid March, Apr and May.

You'd be surprised the ppl that travel here in January and February and expect a tropical climate.

The bad part of shopping lines in casinos during the heat is the on-off air conditioning mixed with recycled tobacco smoke and smelly ppl. Runners don't even want the task.

I used to always go in July/August. The hotter the better for me. When you live in the midwest, it is about the humidity. I was out there when it was 108, felt like about 90 back here. 114 when I visited Death Valley, about 90 ish here. When you are used to heavy humidity on hot days, the no humidity really does make a difference.

SY, the lack of humidity is rough on the skin. The scalp and other parts get scaly and itchy. Atleast for me.

You don't want to buy a house there, at least if the water problem is as bad as is being reported.

    http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-06-30/las-vegas-screwed-water-situation-bad-you-can-imagine

"It's just going to be screwed. And relatively quickly," warns Tim Barnett, of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, telling The Telegraph, the situation in Las Vegas is "as bad as you can imagine".

After a devastating, 14-year drought drained the reservoir that supplies 90% of the city’s water, the apparently endless supply of water is an illusion as Las Vegas population has soared. As Barnett ominously concludes, "unless it can find a way to get more water from somewhere, Las Vegas is out of business. Yet they’re still building, which is stupid."

(FWIW, the Southern Nevada Water Authority says the article is overblown):

    http://www.snwa.com/about/news_conservation_response_telegraph.html

A recent article in the United Kingdom’s Telegraph newspaper, "The race to stop Las Vegas from running dry," creates a false sense of peril about my community.

They offer big $$(thousands) incentives to convert you lawn to desert landscaping. My water bill is $300 per month summer time. Thinking about it.

I love late fall here. July and August are the only months I wouldn't visit. I'll take a dry 115 over a humid 95 any day though.

    Wraps,
Lots of grass, trees and plants. Did I mention a mother-in-law that visits often and takes Hollywood showers?

Don't forget the Mud slides, Tornado's, Floods. In Air conditioning all the time anyway. Give me Las Vegas if I can't have San Diego.

Haven't seen a tornado yet. One inch of rain and people start drowning though. I agree, I visit my friends in La Jolla all the time but the game keeps me here for now.

Did the move 27yrs. ago from long island NY and never looked back...don't miss the ridiculous taxes both state income and property...the weather for 3 mos. is tolerable for the trade off of great weather in other mos. imo...as far as the water bills, this was meant to be a desert so did the desert landscaping and yes the water company did a helluva rebate....this city has been great for my family and me, through the bad raps it has taken I still wouldn't trade it ....well maybe for Tahoe, but that comes later ;-)

I regret giving my mother-in-law that same message.........now I'm the bad guy whenever her stay exceeds 3 days. Yes, I threw her lounging ass out many a time.

    Man that was funny.

I got a different setup where I live, no water bill ever (all the hollywood showers , baths you want) but I have not had a utility bill under 1k in the summer forever.

Vegas might be Utopia if you're working in the establishment and drawing a healthy corporate paycheck. Working the fringes is another story.

How to spot a bottle rat.

    1. High heels
    2. Short skirt
    3. No clutch

For a bottle rat, the sparklers that come with the Dom as it's brought out is like the bat signal. Once she sees it, she will sprint from the other side of the dance floor to get a picture with it. The pinnacle of the bottle rat experience is sharing their pictures with the bottles on Instagram.

My last piece of advice regarding bottle rats, as I am a veteran. Sometimes these wily creatures will pour a drink for a random dude. If you witness this treasonous act, it is completely within your right to knock the drink right out of his hands.

    Jafar,
Sounds like happenings @Maloof's place. Friday nights always looked like a 'legal brothel'. The M bros didn't get it. Nobody but the King's hoop players wagered any kind of $$.

It is also imperative to immediately tip the bouncer guarding your table a C note. He is the gatekeeper. There are some bottle rats who could use a couple months at the gym. There are also regular bottle rats who will never ever put out. He will make sure only the respectable bottle rats go beyond the velvet rope guarding your bottles. Don't treat him right and you will have the fat bottle rats, the pros, and the 35 year olds with bad collagen injections taking over your table.

I used to love being a mod at the now defunct Beyond Capping. If you said something retarded I banned you. It really tilted the hell out of Burger. He would keep ghosting back in and I would ban him again. I could just picture the guy blowing a gasket at his desk.

Now if only you could refrain from using this offensive word...your posts would be even better.
