The Rays appear to have lost a great deal of intensity as they play out their schedule and book tee times for October. It is starting to show in their run production. Yankees are somewhat distracted as Derek Jeter looks to break the all-time Yankee hit record. David Price is no Andy Sonnanstine, whom the Yankees pummeled yesterday. Only question mark is Chad Gaudin and his ability to keep the score low. We believe he'll be able to stymie the Rays' bats long enough for the superb Yankee middle relief corp, now rested, to continue shutting down the Rays.
Some stats: the Rays are 35-17-4 to the UNDER vs. righthanders, David Price is 4-0-1 to the UNDER in his last 5 starts, these two teams are 10-5 to the UNDER last 15 head-to-head, all games at "the Stadium" are 16-8-1 to the UNDER last 25 games....and, most important, the Rays are 7-2 UNDER last 9 on Tuesdays! (Being facetious as we could never understand why the day of the week stat is meaningful in baseball).
The OVER would have legs in the heat and humidity of mid-summer, but there is a real feel of fall in the air here in the Apple. This line is set for August 8, not September 8........jump on the UNDER tonight.
