South Point launches mobile sports wagering app, joining Cantor, William Hill & Station

South Point is the latest sportsbook operator to offer a mobile betting app after launching the service on Friday at its five Nevada locations, including four in Las Vegas.

The app, which is available for iPhone, iPad, Android and Android tablets, is free to download and looks very similar to the William Hill app that’s been on the market for more than a year.

South Point began advertising the app in its books on Friday. Though the flagship location is open 24/7, the app is not expected to be available during all hours of the day, meaning an in-person visit will still be necessary for bets placed overnight.

A website has been set up at NVsportsbooks.com to answer preliminary questions that people might have. South Point requires a minimum $100 deposit, and while out-of-state residents are allowed to sign up, the device can only be used when in the state of Nevada.

The app will allow almost all types of bets except for Parlay Cards and pari-mutual racing.

South Point joins Cantor Gaming, William Hill and Station Casino as the only sportsbooks in town offering a mobile wagering device. Major operators on the Strip such as Caesars and MGM remain without one, and seem intent on relying on tourist action at their many locations.

The next operator most likely to crash the app party is Boyd Gaming, which has nine Las Vegas locations including The Orleans, Gold Coast, Sun Coast and Sam’s Town.
