Overlay report: Strong weeks for FanDuel and DraftKings; second tier sites scuffle

After a tumultuous couple of weeks to start the season, DraftKings and FanDuel appear to have settled in to a comfortable spot with their NFL offerings.

For the second consecutive week, both of the top two operators posted positive numbers in their guaranteed NFL contests, with DraftKings earning an 8.13 effective rake percentage and FanDuel taking in 9.1 percent, according to data supplied by SuperLobby. Effective rake percentage is the amount of net revenue generated by entry fees divided by the total amount of prizes paid out.

While FanDuel has the slight edge on a percentage basis, DraftKings continues to be the leader in terms of total entry fees ($23.9M vs. 19.7M) and total number of NFL GPP entries (3.75M vs. 3.18M for FanDuel.)

No other operator has generated a positive net revenue figure for its guaranteed contests this season. Of the second-tier sites, Yahoo received the most entries (188,000), but paid out nearly $220,000 more than it earned on its guaranteed contests.

FantasyDraft was included in the SuperLobby measurements for the first time in Week 4 and received 35,400 entries, making it the fourth-most frequented site for NFL GPPs.
