CNBC slots DraftKings at No. 46 on its annual ‘Disruptor 50’ list for business innovation

While DraftKings remains No. 2 among Daily Fantasy sites behind leader FanDuel, the upstart company can take comfort in knowing it’s the industry leader in innovation.

CNBC recently released its third annual “Disruptor 50” list, which ranks private companies “whose innovations are revolutionizing the business landscape.”

DraftKings, which was established in 2012, received high praise for its ability to quickly generate revenue and establish strategic partnerships, most notably with Disney. The site ranked 46th on the list, ahead of companies such as Narrative Science and Spotify.

From CNBC.com:

“The four-year-old company had revenue of $30 million last year, up from $4 million in 2013,” CNBC’s report noted. “In addition to Disney’s infusion, the company has also attracted funding from Atlas Ventures, Redpoint Ventures and Raine Group.

“Additionally, the company has lined up a partnership with Major League Baseball, making it the exclusive and official daily fantasy game of the league. More than just a marketing deal, it gives DraftKings access to extensive MLB video content, letting fantasy players do their research on site instead of having to click away to sports news sites or broadcast television.”

The list’s top 5 consisted of Moderna Therapeutics, a biotech company, followed by SpaceX, Bloom Energy, Uber and Airbnb.
