Iowa hopes to have betting by college football season; Oregon Lottery to offer betting app

Iowa is targeting Aug. 15 to offer legal sports betting. The state hopes to have legal betting in time for college football primarily.

“It was important for the industry to be able to offer sports betting by NFL season, but college football is king here in Iowa and that season is even a little earlier,” Ohorilko told Legal Sports Report. “If entities are ready to go, they’ll have the opportunity to work out any bugs before the NFL season starts.”

The Oregon Lottery is launching a sports betting app that will bring the return of sports betting to the state. Bettors will be able to bet on the professional sports, but not college sports.

The Oregon Lottery is hoping to have the Scoreboard app up and running by the start of the NFL regular season on Sept. 5. Lottery officials admit it may not be ready for the season opener. They are testing the app to make sure it works correctly and is secure.

One bettor risked $100,500 to win $2,010 for the Philadelphia 76ers to make the playoffs in 2020.

Sherman confirmed to ESPN that the Sixers bet was placed by the same customer who wagered on the Warriors last year. The customer will have to wait a little more than nine months for the wager to be graded.

Philadelphia added Al Horford and Josh Richardson in the offseason and traded away Jimmy Butler. The 76ers, along with the Milwaukee Bucks, are considered the favorites to win the Eastern Conference. At the SuperBook, the Bucks are plus-125 to win the Eastern Conference, followed closely by the 76ers at plus-150.
