The local media helped run UNLV coach Dave Rice outta town. Ok, he wasn't much of a bench coach. What I can't understand is why the same media continues to have ex-Rebel Robert Smith in the radio booth as color man. The guy can't finish a sentence. You'd swear his previous sports involvement was that of a boxer. VERY HARD TO LISTEN TO. The program deserves better.

Peyton Manning's current net worth is approximately 200 million. He's currently involved with a lucrative endorsement deal with Papa John's and Nationwide Insurance. Enough ammo that would enable his children and grand kids to live comfortably without ever working. Why is this money grubbing has-been plugging Budweiser during postgame interviews not once but twice while later Budweiser has denounced any financial arrangement with him?

Btw, can't he do better than Bud Light?

Apparently he owns a Budweiser distribution center

I think he sold them years ago. Btw, it's illegal for a NFL player to publicly endorse alcohol or tobacco products.

Saddened by the passing of Joe Garagiola. As a kid I remember watching the game of the week every Saturday with him and Tony Kubek

    RE: Cub/Card Rain Delay

    Posted on the Budweiser Scoreboard:

"We expect the game to resume play once this weather pattern leaves the area."

Teams today are babying their pitchers. Dr. Mike Marshall, former Cy Young winner agrees. Runs a school and teaches how he played. Here's a little antidote to relieve the boredom of the nothing happen here.
Just prior to the Dodgers moving to LA from Brooklyn they hadda choice to make on 2 hard throwing lefties. One would be promoted and the other sent back to the Eastern League Blue Jays. #1 Was a wild man named Koufax the other was a veteran named Tommy LaSorda. Well, they made a bad move and kept Koufax. LOL. To get back to my initial point is this. A few years earlier, Tommy LaSorda struck out 25 men while pitching 15 innings for the Sch'dy Blue Jays. No typo.

Just got done with our high school playoffs ...the pitcher that pitched against us threw 127 pitches ....thats not right ...
If that were my son id be down on the field....that being said, my son this fall will pitch at a div 2 college , couldve played div 1 ,not enough money offered and he didnt like the schools ...i babied him along the way and he is strong as ever...only time will tell though...

IMO the problems arise more from poor mechanics rather than workload.

Here's a gem for our resident stat freaks and data miners. Picked this info up on Twitter from an assumed credible source.

    Last 190 at bats:
    Harper 11 home runs
    Trout 11 home runs

    Bumgarner 11 home runs.

What does this mean? "The only ppl getting rich on stats are the statisticians" source the late Mort Olshan.

If you make the entry of Ryan Leaf and JaMarcus Russell the biggest bust-outs in the pro ranks, Carl Crawford is in the conversation. The Dodgers today had enough of him and moved him out. More grand larceny.

Let me clarify the Crawford blast. He was an All-Star while playing with the Rays, but since he signed that mega million(about 150) contract he's been a bust. Injuries? sure they happen but he needed an excuse. Blames it on the hard turf @The Trop.

"Big Game James" Shields another wonderful acquisition by the pale hose. In his 3 starts with the White Sox he's faced 62 batters in less than 9 innings.

I forget the story how he got the name "Big Game" but it had nothing to do with pitching a big game. Someone tell it I forget happens a lot lately:confused:

He got the nick when pitching high school ball in SoCal. Hosmer and the Royals picked up on it. Real Jekyle and Hyde pitcher throughout career.

Pirates free-falling. If things keep declining, McCutchen might be considered trade bait.

Two Names Cole and Liriano, Pitching numbers down across the board. More hits allowed then innings pitched Cole 2/1 K'/W's some people think that's good it isn't and Liriano isn't even at that point. Below 500 -25 in runs it's early but very late for Pitt this year. Don't see trading McCutchen with the year he's having unless they give him away. Sad always enjoy watching them.

Agree, those 2 pitchers are a major part of problem. Although still early, McCutchens #s read .237/.314/.399 (rested/benched today) are down about 25% across the board career wise.

Cole is the only guy on that whole staff who HASN'T been horrible. Including the bullpen.

Your right he hasn't been horrible and I don't believe I used that word but his numbers are all down from years prior. His K's per 9 are down if memory serves almost 2 a game. His innings were way up in 2015 from 2014 and the way they're babied at a very young age that may have had some effect this year. He's become a 6 inning pitcher. He's gotten into the 7th once and the 8th once and now he's hurt. #1's aren't 6 inning pitchers. The window on this team is just about closed. Liriano is a guy who's done and may bring something if he can show something the 2nd half because 2013 was his swan song. There's a case of Tommy John not helping to the extent that most pitchers have when done. It's not just an off year it's time to retool because if not it could be another 17 year wait in that division.

So, Jason Heyward is now worth $23M a year, holy fuck

Well, I've seen enough of Heyward, he's been terrible all season, that contract is a joke. Next year his salary rises to 28M, yes, you read that correctly, Jason Heyward will "earn" 28 million fucking dollars next season, I said it before, I'll say it again, HOLY FUCK!

You catch on quick KCB. The Strip is not where it's at. Gambling, drinking and the gawking awe of the tourists gets under you skin.....even for the high tolerance types. When they come down from their artificial highs things often turn shitty. Blowing a few $$ makes some tourists believe they can waive all traffic signals and driving etiquette. Stay off the Strip

Yea but Howard did have good years look in 2006,7,8,9,10, and 11 Then Hurt 2012/2013 and after that the numbers started to slide but he had some of the best numbers your going to see for 6 straight years. Now he's done but what did Heyward ever do. Heywards best year was in 2012 with 27/82 Please. Not Howards fault he got a long term contact but he earn it in today's market.
