Cub opener. Score tied bottom 9 with Jay on third 2 outs. Why did LA skipper Roberts pitch to Rizzo especially after being right on a Jansen fastball that was foul? Zobrist and Russell in the hole. Jansen touched up pretty good by the Rockies the nite before.

Kane, you're a South Beach guy, what's your opinion on this NYPost article concerning the late Jose Fernandez. I have none.

My opinion is I wouldn't build a statue, I would retire his number to make sure as long as baseball is played in Miami no Marlin will ever wear 16 again. The fact that Loria is rushing to get this statue built tells me he'll sell the team sometime this year which would be a very good thing. And my opinion of no statue has nothing to do with how he died or the controversy surrounding it. However, given how much he meant to the community I can understand the Marlins decision to build one, even if I disagree with it, I understand it

This is how the Native Americans get even with the palefaces. They freerolled this lady.:wonder:

"An Ontario woman who hit the jackpot on a slot machine at the Seneca Niagara Casino was kicked out without her winnings.

According to the Buffalo News, the 69-year-old was shown the door after casino officials learned she was banned from the casino back in May of 2015. Niagara Falls Police were called to the casino Saturday night to remove the woman.

The casino says the woman was refunded the money she spent and given an appearance ticket for trespassing. There is no word on why she was banned in the first place.

The woman did not realize the ban was still in effect, according to police. "

In the days prior to sexual harassment laws some women were treated like pieces of meat by many of their supervisors......both men and women. The old casting couch innuendo. Now that preventive laws have been enacted and with the Gloria Alreds' eager, many of these "floppers" are looking to make a score.
Btw, this is not a defense of horn dog O'Reilly. However, he's an easy target.

I like Boston fans. Not as savvy as New Yorkers(close) but support their teams well. What I heard during an Ottawa playoff game kinda set them back. The Bruins just scored a late tying goal and fans started chanting U-S-A, U-S-A. Don't some of these Sam Adams filled dolts realize that many on their roster have strong Canadian roots?

A couple of thoughts on the NFL draft:

    - Don't Americans understand how trivial the draft is? This stupid mock-draft circus has been going on for 3 months now.
    - All of this, to watch a player play only 16 times (maybe 2 or 3 more) in the next year
    - Everybody on the sports networks trying to predict who goes 1st, 2nd etc etc, while most pundits only get 5 or 6 right....IN THE FIRST ROUND! Let alone the other rounds.
    - 240 of those selections will simply be role players at their most and most probably won't change their team's fortunes.
    - You can also just read up on who got selected by which team in the doldrums of june and july. You would have saved a lot of time, instead of fretting over every mock for 3 months.
    - Number of players in the first 2 rounds actually becoming NFL starters is like what? 40%? 35%?

You need to bet on it, it's really fun to bet on. The last few years there's even been a live market.

This joint has become a tryout for "America's Got Handicapping Talent". A few are gifted and some are grifted. Many freeroll until a losing streak and disappear. What puzzles me though are the amateur modelers. After a couple of losing sessions the engine stops producing. No more plays?

Are we in the 1960's?? Red Sox today formally apologized to Adam Jones. The Sam Adams filled bleachers were shouting racial slurs at him in CF.

Does anyone know if there is a resource to find archived team total odds for MLB? Similar to SBR for game lines.

What's with the Spurs...from the miserable coach down to the fans? A memorabilia dealer and a group of fans have filed a law suit against GS's Zsa Zsa for intentionally injurying KLeonard. Oh, coach Popovich.....stay the fuk outta politics and pray you get lucky with a few more Admirals, and Duncans.

NFL cuts reg. season OT from 15 to 10 minutes. No effect on #s just more ammo for the defense in future law suits. Why not eliminate OT for exhibition games? How about player safety player in Europe or other troubled areas?

When was the last time an exhibition game went to OT? I've never seen a preseason game where the coaches didn't do everything in their power to avoid it.

Someone spray painted racist graffiti on Lebron James' property just prior to the start of these NBA Finals? FAKE NEWS. Absolutely no evidence. Don't blame LBJ.....he wasn't there.

Some erase the losing slate and reappear until different handles. Similar styles and the eventual inevitable results.

Should be fairly easy for a modeler that knows what they are doing to tell if they have a profitable model. So I just go ahead and assume anyone posting on the forums doesn't.

Let me break the posting moratorium here and try to stimulate some banter. Annoying to see the continual "mind bet" posts that disappear when the going gets rough.

Subject: NFL game changers. No not the obvious turnovers, but pass interference(PI) calls or non-calls. The CFL has been using replay challenges(3years) on this rule. Do you think Goodell cudda addressed this to the owners and rules committee for possible use? He 's too worried about slowing the game down anymore?

But then they couldn't fix games so easily...

I'm all for video replay on this call. Should be part of the challenge system. Wouldn't mind giving an extra challenge to coaches. How can you cite time of play when the product is being destroyed because of the constant flagging and poor judgement calls. These always happen to be on big chunk, difference making plays.

The CFL agreed with you. They gave each team a "free" challenge. The fans starting 'bitching' in large #'s about the frivolous challenges and slowdowns. The league surprisingly pulled it in mid-season. No more freebies.

Why didn't the Padres retaliate after Rizzo cheapshotted their catcher Hedges on an illegal slide at the plate? KO'd him outta the game with thigh injury. No subsequent knockdown pitches? Memo to Sdg mgr Andy Green......More than talk is needed for players to police themselves. MLB admitted the slide was illegal but "Rizzo didn't mean to hurt anyone". JFC, he broke the rule!! What's this intent shit?

What did you want to guy to do Stop and get tagged like I've seen before like a pussy. Guy gets hurt playing a game with grown men it happens. Can't break up a double play I mean who thinks up these rules. What till year it will get worst. I agree with what your saying about retaliation. I would like to see the link where baseball says that was illegal because I haven't hear of any fine which would have followed.

I watched the game and numerous replays, he hadda path to the plate and mighta beat the throw if he took it.

"Major League Baseball informed the Cubs and San Diego on Tuesday that Chicago first baseman Anthony Rizzo violated the home-plate collision rule in Monday's game against the Padres but will not be disciplined."

I'm with Ron on this one. Rizzo's slide was illegal, the catcher gave him a clear lane to the plate, but instead of trying to score, Rizzo went knees first into the catcher in an attempt to dislodge the ball. I watched Rizzo's first at bat the following night fully expecting the first pitch to land in his ribcage, instead he hit a HR. I have no idea why the Padres didn't retaliate in that spot, and if I'm Hedges I'm really pissed at my manager for not having my back, and knowing the type of player Rizzo is, had he gotten hit, he would have trotted down to first base without hesitation understanding that's how baseball works

The 2nd base rule is even worse. In the Boston/Angels game last night Bogaerts started a slide a good 6 feet before the bag. Ended with the front of the base next to his shoulder and did not initiate contact although there was some. Ump invoked the automatic double play rule after Pennington couldn't make the throw. Challenged by Farrell and upheld. Just ridiculous.
