Nevada sportsbooks capped off a record football season by winning $2.5 million on NFL and college football in January.
From September through the Super Bowl, the state’s sportsbooks won $111.5 million on football, the most profitable season for the books ever and shattering the previous mark set during the 2006-07 season by $20 million.
Overall in January, Nevada books won $13.3 million on all sports, a 62.88 percent increase from January 2013. Basketball, both college and the NBA, was responsible for $10.86 million of the books’ win this January. The books are now up $20.9 million on basketball since Nov. 1.
Last season, the books suffered losses on football in October, November and January – and still came out ahead, thanks to a monster September and December. There no bumps in the road this season. The books won each month and topped it off by winning a record $19.7 million on the Super Bowl.
