Las Vegas’ NHL team now has a name and a logo.

The Vegas Golden Knights will be the city’s first major professional sports team when they begin play in the 2017-18 season.

Golden Knights owner Bill Foley made the announcement, alongside NHL commissioner Gary Bettman and team general manager George McPhee, in front of a raucous crowd outside the recently constructed T-Mobile Arena, the team’s new home, located just off the Las Vegas Strip.

“We now have an identity,” Foley told ESPN.com just before the announcement. “My whole idea was to create a logo and a name that was powerful that would epitomize the warrior class. The Knights are the epitome of the warrior class, the top of the line in terms of defending the realm, defending the unprotected. This is all part of the culture we want to create with the hockey team.”

Legal Sports Report started a series of articles that take a look at PASPA.

ESPN Chalk’s David Purdum interviewed Andrew Brandt on the NFL’s stance on sports betting and fantasy sports.

Q: Why does the NFL believe the current environment, where the majority of bets are placed in an illegal, unregulated market, better protects the integrity of the game than a legal market overseen by licensed officials?

A: It’s a fair question. I think it’s the fear of the unknown. It’s stepping into new territory, and again, I think the NFL isn’t the most progressive sports league and not the one that you would see jumping into previously taboo areas. You have (NBA commissioner) Adam Silver writing an op-ed in the New York Times about exactly what you said in terms of bringing gambling out in the light. You have the NHL all-in, moving a team to Las Vegas. So before the NFL dips [its] toes in the water, I think they want to see it happen in other leagues. They don’t move as nimbly as others.
