    very old correct!
yes you want to minimize the connection from book to coinbase, they dont like that.
Sportsbook to blockchain to coinbase to bank is correct

If you get 70% of your bets to move right before close, you should definitely be betting earlier.
you are saying bets dont move that much right before close? I guess I am not really sure what you are saying

    my question was
Hey Joseph, do you think you could agree or disagree, I am wondering if you bet 1000 bets and 70% or more go in your direction maybe not enough to beat the margin, that 70% could be a reasonable indicator of skill? example bet @ -110 & it closes at -111 that would count

    reply
Yes, it might show skill, but insufficient to make a long term profit. I might be a highly skilled golf tournament winner forecaster but because of the huge margin in such a market I still might be a million miles away from profitable expectation.

It would show skill and ability to make a profit. If you were betting this late and this successfully, you would be a truly great gambler. In such a case, these numbers would move heavily in your favor we would assume if there was more time. Your ability would be largely immeasurable. Likewise, if you had negative CLV over 1,000s of bets and an impressive win rate, you would be right and the market wrong.

when you say this successfully what are you referencing? there is no win loss or any of that here, this is purely line going in his direction

its not at the close its just I got the yankees at -165 and I want to bet it ANYTIME it is better than -145 but if I do I wont beat the line no way, I dont know anyone who does beat the line betting same day. if there is someone please show them to me cause I have not seen one. I now know why these guys dont post up their CLV because it sucks and they know it. I have been watching lots of different people and none of them beat the line enough to beat the margin unless they bet overnights.

Well, nobody that beats the line same days posts. People that post like to post to see how they do.

CLV is a lot of trouble. You've got to be a math nerd to want to figure that out. Most posters are handicapping. They only care about their units.

There are two reasons a person posts:

    1) They want to be a tout and earn respect here or maybe get hired by RAS
    2) They are posting because they like the challenge of posting before an audience and like to talk games with people.

1 dont they require skill to hire people, people just throwing out paragraphs and picks I dont see them getting anywhere with that
2 Literally no one talks games here, i try to talk games with people and they say I am too busy, so I dont get that and no one else asks them anythign except saying thanks for lord knows what.
I dont even read the paragraphs or look at their picks if they dont discuss skill things, like CLV, win%toavgline things like that

Ed watches anybody posting picks and if they have the CLV, he will contact them.

unless they change rules here someone is going to have a lot of time to make sure their clv is correct anyway ...
i took sea last night -127 .....am only going to use the books we are allowed to use....pinny closed -125 .....bm -134 and bo -130 ....
I had 7 cents of clv right ?

This is kind of high brow so talking games is kind of out of style. That is for dorks.

ok Mr CLV hater, LOL. Jets I think I really have NBA skills, I really do and I only think that because my lines are on point and my CLV was positive and I made money on the season. those 3 things tell me I am skilled and if you ask anyone here they will tell you I have zero skill. So I am just trying to find out what is the requirement to say you are skilled. I throw a ton of money in betting and I want to increase that dramatically when I feel like I have skill.

I don't think anyone thinks you have zero skill. I don't think anybody thinks you can beat the NBA line.

That is why people post picks. They want to prove to themselves and other people that they can beat the line under the toughest conditions which is why BT has its policy on posting.

Most modelers don't. They are just math guys. But they are hard to impress because they all think they are better than you.

I can beat the NBA lines even same day and without a doubt on overnights, no question. Baseball no way same day but overnight all day long

Could be. But nobody is going to believe it until they see it. And if you can, they damn sure are not giving you any info.

One more question Coinbase want a lot answers what do you tell them
  • danshandanshan Senior Member
    edited May 2018
    answers the famous KYC/AML stuff?
I just tell them when I am just cashing out that I bought some btc long ago and just transferred it to blockchain from cold storage so I can sell it, I dont think its gonna go up anymore.
if buying, Every now and then I pull out my analyst hat and guess its gonna jump so I buy and sit for a minute and then come to my senses and sell it or cold store it again.

OK, that's what I told. You have to post picks and track your CLV and then people will let you know if you are any good. And if you are really good, Ed will be in touch.

funny you said that I spent like 20 hours on hoops the other day, working on some backtesting stuff. I even have now generated a rating system for players and it pulls from twitter any injury updates as they come in and also from fantasylabsnba as well. it is pretty awesome. I anticipate a very successful NBA season!
