Charity Bet

The Maloofs made a monster bet on Mayweather with ALL proceeds to multiple charities if win. Nice gesture by a couple of gentlemen.

" Mayweather and Gavin Maloof are longtime neighbors, living down the street from each other in a tiny Las Vegas suburb. Gavin went to a recent workout at Mayweather's gym and emerged with overwhelming confidence that age hasn't eroded the 40-year-old unbeaten champion's skills, even after a two-year layoff.

"So I called my brother, Joe, and said, 'We should put a wager on Floyd, because I don't think he's going to lose,'" Gavin said. "Not to take anything away from Conor. He's good. But I just like Floyd a lot."

The Maloofs spoke to the South Point sportsbook and settled on an $880,000 bet — a number that was initially too big to display properly on a betting ticket. The casino rewrote the bet into two $440,000 tickets that will pay out a total of $1.04 million if Mayweather wins."

They should have waited. Something about this fight stinks. If Mayweather wasn't undefeated I would really think something was up. Mayweather has danced with best boxing had to offer in his career and the best couldn't catch him. How is this guy going to. He can also take a punch.
Just for the record I use to see him almost every morning and he's a dick and I would love to see him on his ass.

Yeah it doesn't pass the smell test. Maybe it's the cynic in me, but Mayweather owes the IRS some heavy change. He'd make more $$ setting up a rematch and another. Dunno, wouldn't lay it either way.

I'll tell you it could be a set-up and if there's a lot late money taking this to 6/1 or better Mayweather is money in the bank. When they were talking about this fight they were saying 1000/1 was a gift betting Mayweather. They opened this more then 13/1 and it's down to 4/1 in some places makes you go hmmm

For once, we agree on something. Both these dudes are money-centric. Neither of them care about fighting - they care about $. A trilogy would be a billion dollar windfall. My spidey senses are tingling....

I dont think the betting pattern points to a setup. 95% of tickets are coming in on McGregor, this kind of secret can't be kept among 10,000s of bettors. More likely is we have a fight with alot of interest because the story is so straightforward. My sister put a bet in FFS, she said I heard there's an Irish fighter Cindarella and he's a showman and the champ is a real jerk. Nobody is interested in putting down $100 to win $15 so they bet the dog.

Your other argument is that you can craft a storyline to make this a big payday with a subsequent fight. I disagree, they are having trouble selling tickets to this one and even my sister knows it is a novelty fight. A McGregor knockout would be implausible and scrutinized and everyone would cry foul, people wouldnt be excited about the rematch. McGregor would have bigger paydays available elsewhere.

Paddy, I respect your pristine Irish view:coolsign: However, this is the States where larceny can sometimes be the rule rather the exception.

The smurph Conor $$? Most recreation bettors in mano a mano events usually bet a toothpick to win a 2 X 4. Let's see what happens at post.

Ticket sales are starting to soar now. Both gate and ppv.

you think it was sugar ray robinson, yeah he was great but think of the difference half the world when he was boxing did not even know what boxing was. Floyd is the worst human being I can remember but the guy is a great fighter and anyone that says different is basing him outside the ring not in it. I mean the guy has won more fights with his left shoulder.

I thought you were a little older but to say that he's the best at promoting his fights is crazy. He's super quick and he is very good but with the fight game the way it's been the last 20 years it's hard to call any fighter during that time the best. I've watch some of his fights and they're boring. Bottom line he wins but can you name 5 of his opponents without google.
