Sunday Ticket

Hope all is well and I am not sure if you have posted anything yet? What is Directv giving away as a discount for the Sunday ticket this year? I know they have gotten greedy as the years have passed on, but if anyone can share it is always helpful. This will be my 20th year and basically they don't acknowledge that like they use to. Thanks

They have really gotten stingy with giving anything out, I have about the same 22 years just looked at the bill this month $202 a month, they know they have you with the nfl, maybe someday I will give it up.

I'm not even going to try this year there's enough football on TV for me so I think I'll pass this year. Lost a lot of interest in the NFL over the past few years anyway. Also I think if your calling now it's way to early. At least wait till Mid-August and they most likely don't have a price yet. I wouldn't give anything away until I see what's coming in I may not have to give that much away or on the other hand if subs are down I'll start making deals again. Just an opinion if I ran the show.

Called today to see if they would help with movie channels to keep and offer a discount, said no discounts, change to ultimate from premium and new bill would be 226.00 plus tax with the added sports package to ultimate, damn ridiculous.

I have premium with the baseball package which I paid in one payment and my bill is $138 so if you add the baseball if I didn't pay it in one payment it would be low 170's. I get discounts and if you add them UP it's around $38 a month and coming close to ending in a couple of months. So without that I'm about the same as you and I think the discounts are going bye bye. Are you speaking to the retention dept? I see just on my block a lot of Century trucks lately and your right it's down right ridiculous. I'm close to 24 years with directv, I was with them before they were called Directv but you just knew it was a matter of time with this AT&T that things were going to tighten up. It maybe time to downgrade.

Yeah I had some 6 month discounts end this month so I called to see what they could do, they wouldn't do anything. Going to wait until the end of Aug to call again and if they offer nothing to help, I am going back to cable as soon as baseball package ends. Can't believe NFL max this year 360.00, can't remember last year but no where near that, yet I look and they are giving it free to any new customers. 10 yr subscriber gets the shaft. Never thought I would but seriously thinking of leaving Directv.

    My Conversation:

Me: I would like to cancel Sunday Ticket due to the cost increases Her: when you think of it $360 is not that much. I mean if you would go to every game it would be way over $360, and I know some people like to enjoy a beer as well at a game which is usually around $7 or $8. Me Nah that is ok lets remove it. Her: How about if I take $10 off a month for the next six months. Me: Ok, lets do that..

I feel the same way and last year it was $160 I remember because the best I could do was 1/2 price although I got some other stuff so I took it for $80.
    Can't believe it's $360 forgetitaboutit

Sorry kc you can't justify $360 on top of what you pay every month. that's really insane. Also over the years they have increase (It seems anyway) the games on regular TV. There's plenty football watch but I understand if your a big fan of a team which I'm not and you want to see them play every week then maybe it's worth it to the die hard.

Edit: I just noticed that's what Directv said to you. Sorry.

No worries I am a misplaced Chiefs fan..if it were just about watching games and I agree hard to justify.

Apparently the retention dept is now called "customer satisfaction" or some such crap. It's about time for me to call again. I don't want the football, but last time I called she gave me $15/month off in general, and $5/month off each of the premium movie channels, and a couple of other little things. No where near what they used to do, but dropped my bill from $170 back down to $125.

I'm fearing what they will do this time---- AT&T sucks!

Good luck, that is what I was trying to do and all they offered was for me to change my package and go from 260 mo to 228 mo. Let us know what you find out with your next Directv adventure.

Taking about Century Link just went to get the mail and another truck almost directly across from me. I have to knock on some doors and see how they like it. Just in case. Really the last thing I want to do is start a new service but they spoiled us and you just can't chop us off at the knees. I don't want the football package but I'm going to see what they offer at the end of August.

Anyone heard a time frame for Google Fiber to get to Las Vegas? I will be making that switch immediately.

According to the map it's going to be all around us but it doesn't appear that Las Vegas will get it anytime soon. Salt Lake city has it upcoming in San Fran and Potentially parts of Calif.

Yeah, that's what I've seen as well. Friends of mine talk about it and recommend it. Fingers crossed that something changes re: non-availability in Las Vegas.

I always make the annual call sometime right before week 1 or week 2 (since week 1 is free anyways) of the NFL season. I was worried about everyone having some negative feedback on what they were able to get last year, but I got hooked up as well as ever. And then I got hooked up again before baseball season this year when I called to inquire about the baseball package. And I do always take the "I'd like to cancel my service" approach to end up in the Retentions department and keep going until I get something that satisfies me. It's worked for the past 8 years or so, and I hope it's still going to work this season.

Good luck as I have also, but before baseball I got hooked up also but ATT has taken over since then and I called recently and they said I could change my plan if I wanted a discount, nothing else.

just made the annual call.... direct tv customer since the original date and also at&t customer before merger... told rep to cancel my auto renewal for sunday ticket...eventually was transferred to retention department..was real factual to them about not wanting to pay 270 or whatever this year..talked about century link bundle deal and lack of fox channel currently...anyway, didnt give any discount for ticket but gave me a $35 credit for the next 12 months($420) on current package so as long as i agreed to a year contract saying i wont leave... i renewed!!

I was going to wait and call directv in a couple of weeks but after three calls telling them to take me off the renewal NFL which has been going on for two years it seems I always have to call to tell I don't want it and ask them what's the best deal they can do. Also as far as I know it's still called the retention dept. So I call and tell the guy that I was charged 59.99 for the NFL and I repeatedly tell them I don't want it on renewal. Then I told him it's way to much to watch football and there's more then enough football on tv for me without the package but what's the best deal you can do. He said 35.99 a month and I said $216 is way to much but what other promotions do you have. The only thing he had and we spoke for a while was $5 off for 12 months. I said that's it and I told that I have $38 of promotions dropping off this month and if he can get close to that we can discuss the NFL and if it's for 12 months then I wouldn't mind paying the $216 for the football package.

We had a nice talk for a while and I told him I'm over a 20 year customer and I was customer before they were called Directv out here and he said I see you've been a customer a long time but that's it thanks for the answer I know already. I'll call again when it gets close. I just called back and complained that I have to paid one month's CC interest and if you guys aren't going to work with me I would like you to credit my CC now please. Another speaking to another guy he told me that they don't give credit that way and I don't want to go into the dumb way you get credit for something like an extra charge. So he gave me a one time credit for $10 to take care of the interest. He told me to call back as promotions change all the time and to call at different times.

So I'll call again in two weeks. I don't want the football I want the discounts it's nice paying a lesser bill for 6 or 12 months. They together with Century Link not the TV but the Phone and Modem. They have a deal if you get the phone and modem from Century Link they have a 5 year lock in program and you'll get $10 a month off your Directv bill. The price of course depends on what speed you want. Just an FYI there partners with Century Link just not on the TV part.

Well, today I made my annual perfunctory call to DTV, and with what I've read and been told was pleasantly surprised. I asked for the retention dept. and talked to a pleasant lady who was at least willing to try to help me. I didn't threaten to leave or bitch profusely, but did explain that I would like to lower my bill and would probably like to cancel my NFL Sun Max package. She gave me $50 off my Platinum Package bill per month for the next year (this was basically continuing existing discounts that I have that expire this month plus an extra $10 per month off) And I get the NFL Max package for $36 per month (for 6 months) instead of $60. So a total annual savings of approx. $750 vs the max that they would have charged me without the call.

Well I'll call again and see. Funny I was in charge of many employees for many years in the table game dept in the casino business and it seems like the attitude from the american worker and others carry over into other areas other then the casino business. There's always some employees that are nice and do the best they can for you knowing they appreciate your business and the money spend on TV is pretty much insane and it's what keeps them employed. Then there's the employees that treat you like it's coming out of there pocket or there so afraid that they really don't care if your a customer or not. Trust me I wasn't in the position I was in because I don't know how to talk to people it seems it's just the luck of the draw.

now I'm happy  It's all who you get so continue to call back every few days. I wouldn't say a great deal but a very good deal and I'm calling back in a month for the NBA and see what else I can do. It pays after the season to cancel all your auto renewals for whatever sports packages you get and call back next year on all sports.

Did you get a deal on the football package? I called a couple days ago and got like 40 a month off for 6 months, but nothing on the NFL package.

Yes a couple of small Promotions and the NFL for $100 but the women said since it was out of the box promotion I would have to pay it all at once. I told her with a big smile that would be okay. It's without the Red Zone which I know people like but I never used it I'm more of a two game guy and go back and forth on just two games and enjoy watching the game instead of bouncing. So if you can't get anything on the NFL ask the person is there anything other then the Max package to make it cheaper. Unless you like the Red Zone and play Fantasy.

Also wanted to add that the reason it's hard to give me any more promotions then they gave is because they just dropped off and she recommended that I wait a month or two and ask again. Sounds like BS but I'm okay with the stuff they give me my bill has been $138 for the longest time and it's always a little more then $200. I have the highest package you can get as far as channels go and the funny part there's many times with all them channels there's nothing on. lol Best not to get greedy and argue try to using charm and sometimes biting the bullet. They do hold all the cards because I'm with them and always have been. Good Luck golf

Yeah I have the highest channel package premier and get the mlb, nba and NFL package usually but never ask for anything except football, but will not get football this year if I can't get a break with the amount I pay for other stuff. my bill is usually around 200 bc I seem to always be paying for a sports package.

    Thanks OT

A little off the subject, but does anybody know if they still have a college basketball package? They dropped the college football package a year ago or so (I think) and am wondering about the baskets.

OT - Did you ask for the retention dept for the football package or talk to customer service discount?
