Went to the Cubs game today, Bryant was 4 for 5. Need to go down to AAA to work on going 5 for 5.
This is turning into a joke of magnificent proportions.
Theo came across as kind of a moron on espn a couple of days ago.
"I've never started a rookie on the opening day lineup",
Ok, then why wasn't he up in Sept last year???
When the time comes...pay the man his money.
If he brings a title to Chicago I'm sure they will be able to afford to pay him

I hope they send him down for a month and miss the playoffs by a game. The free agency rules have got to change eventually cause this is ridiculous. Cuban dudes get a billion dollars before they hit the shore and American kids get screwed (money is relative haha) for 7 years.

It's a smart move by Theo, the Cubs aren't the only team to do this

Absolutely the correct move from a business stand point. By leaving him down at least a couple of weeks you delay his service time another year and his free agency. You gain an extra year of control of him and still can use him the majority of the season.

It amazes me that people are smart enough to find a gambling forum, buy not recognize this as a no brainer for the team.

You guys do realize you get another year of control by sending him down for a few weeks. What is wrong with some of you brainiacs? It's not like they are going to win the World Series this year. Jesus.

You realize a) if he doesn't get off to the start everyone thinks he will, they can send him down later for 2 weeks
    b) just pay the man his money when the time comes c) sending him down to the crappy weather\field in Iowa serves no purpose
d)playing in the toughest div in baseball they can't afford a slow start

Got it. So he starts off on a tear and then they send him down.

    Toughest division in baseball?

From a business standpoint it makes sense but there's also politics in business. Why would be loyal to them ever? He'll just go to the Yankees now when the time comes, cause they will pay him. He is clearly their best player this spring so it just strikes me as unfair.

It's also spring too. Teams will get a book on him and then we will see just how good he will be. If anyone has an idea on how to pitch to him yet, they won't show it now. 95% of young players, you won't know who they will be until year 3. You have the "burst on the scene" year 1, the "lg has a book on you bump in the road year 2", and the "how does he adjust year 3". He's 23, they will control him until he is 30. If he is legit in a couple years, they will buy out his remaining arb years and probably another year or two on top. That keeps him a Cub until age 31-32. If he refuses and just arbs every year until he is a FA and can leave, someone will overpay for his 30+ slow downfall years. Cubs will get his best years one way or another or if there is too much friction in a few years, can sell high.

It's not like he isn't going to be a Cub in 2 or 3 weeks. Mike Trout has been worth just about 1 win in that span. For people saying those two weeks could make or break their playoff chances, well, that's a little overboard(a lot overboard).
